Kayden has been battling addiction for so long, it’s second nature to him. Through love, hookups, and loss, Kayden is a broken soul. Until a trip to New Orleans changes everything.
Before we get into that though, we delve back into Kayden’s Past-first starting with his home life, then moving to the women that shaped him to be the man he is now. His home life is not one made of fairytales. His father is pretty strict on his son, causing Kayden to want to break the rules.
But soon, things go from bad to worse for Kayden—his parents decide to divorce, and his father becomes a lost cause, not caring about his son. Things with his mom improve slightly, but Kayden already has a chip on his shoulder that nothing can ease.
So, he turns to sex and drugs to get through his life. He first hooks up with his best friend’s sister, Mindy, who he leaves wanting more. Then, he met Bridget, and was serious for her for a time, even to the point of wanting to get married, but soon things failed. When Kayden finds Bridget cheating on him, he turns back to alcohol, and soon drugs, to numb the pain.
Fast forward a bit, and Kayden has a new beginning in New Orleans. It was time he got his life in order, which he did. By a twist of fate, Kayden comes across a girl who’s brother he was associated with. Turns out this girl is Sophia, who ends up being the love of Kayden’s life.
But then, Sophia became pregnant, and that caused Kayden to strive to be a better man.
He overcame his addiction to drugs and drinking, and with the help of Sophia’s love and devotion, he is bound to be the best man for her for always.
Another hit by this great author!
It was a very brilliant idea for an author to take us back from where Kayden came. I am telling you now, he's had a hell of a life. Loss, heartbreaks, betrayal, light and dark--- you're in for the ride. I was struggling with his story in Untangle Me but Kayden: The Past had made me understood most, if not all, of his difficulties.
He's got tons of the earth in his shoulders and his search for his peace wasn't an easy one. It took him a lot of failures in life to finally meet his light, Sophia. Hearing the book from his POV gave me wonderful sights of his sexy past, regretful betrayals and how he falls in and out of love.
Give Kayden a chance people. I never thought I would have after Untangle Me but I am so glad I decided against. Finishing his side of the story left me in tears and appreciate how life was easier for me.
Untangle Me and Kayden: The Past will give you what is real out there. Life isn't always a bed of roses. There are humps and bumps on our life's road. We just need to endure for the mean time until we find that one true partner who will go through with us in the ride.
Buy Kayden: The Past and you'll get a sneak peek of Love at Last #2, Suzy's story.
This book is more like a confession and a healing process for Kayden. Healing is him getting counseling over his drinking and finding the root of the problem and a confession to his loving wife. I can only imagine what was going through Kayden’s mind when he was going through ever gory detail.
We get to see the friends he ran around with when he was a child. We get to see the home life he was raised in and how much his father hated him. We also get to see all the women he went though.
I think about his first love. The one that broke his heart by cheating on him. We get to hear about the woman he had married and the pain he went through concerning her. We get to read about his most painful loss. We also get to read about the crazy woman he dated. Yeah, that one was a little scary.
Each thing Kayden goes though breaks him more and more and as you are reading every thing he goes through you will understand. He was spiraling out of control and he was headed into darkness. It was Sophia that gave him hope. He needed someone that was not willing to give up on him and she was that person. I have to say my favorite part in the book was when this major thing happen in his life and he was whole again.
I loved this story and glad I got a chance to read the book.
