This zapper rocks. I have owned one of these before and always had trouble with others being flimsy, getting an occasional shock from, and most of all, having to clean dead bugs out of its grill. This Stinger is very well constructed with a thick insulated handle. Its grill area is big enough to easily run it into a fly or anything else buzzing around that refuses to land, and, it is also flexible so you can lay it flat onto a bug in the wall and just bend it to zap them. It works on two C batteries, (not included) and is operated with a push button that self releases when you let go of it. A really nice touch that prevents anyone from accidentally leaving it on. And a red power light illuminates on both sides when the power button is pushed. Lastly, the mesh on this is very well designed. The inner part is very tightly webbed so nothing can really slip passed it, and an outer grid is big enough that hardly ever does a bug get stuck in it. Most of the time there is just a spark and a zapping pop and the moth, bug, etc, just falls away. When it doesn't a quick little rap on it usually dislodges it..

A to the safety of this thing, it should of course be kept away from children. There is a hook at the end of the handle for hanging it in a closet or something high enough away. And remember that the power button has to be pushed to activate it, and self releases when you let go of it. But even if a child was to pick this up and push the button, it will really do nothing more than scare them a little. I have touched the grid a couple of times and all you feel is a slight tingle of a shock, and a zapping sound with a spark is seen that will certainly make any little one drop it. A few tears maybe and some whining, but that will be about the extent of the episode.

It works! It works! Every insect I've managed to touch with the energized filaments of this racket have died quick deaths. Some of them even sparked and smoked. So: does it do what it claims to? Thats a resounding yes.
However: it is rather large and unwieldy. Also, its not always easy to get the insects to touch the filaments. Waving it about when they are in the air doesn't work well - it works best on bugs that have landed, because when they try to take off they bite the dust. Or bugs on the ground that can't fly, although if they are too small you won't be able to touch them with the mesh.
So if you are looking for something convenient, there are better bug solutions out there, even though this one works as promised.

No bugs were harmed in making this video. It is 'G' rated. However, before and after the video, a lot of bugs bit the dust.

I bought this more expensive bug zapper because I wanted to get a good zapper. I'm very disappointed. In order to kill the bugs I usually have to catch it in the mesh and hold the switch on until they cook to death.

♥ Doesn't always get'em on the first pass so, I've grown accustomed to pinning them against the glass and holding the zapper for a good 5-10sec just short of the 20sec minimum for the Human version of an Electric Chair :-D

Nice design and look/feel to it... but the holes are not that large; if a larger insect can't pass through the first barrier of wire netting - it won't zap it. Even when you can get an insect through the first barrier, you don't just swing this and immediately zap the insect... it has to be done with finesse.

Despite being very well-built out of quality materials, I only gave this item 3 out of five stars because I think the zapping voltage this item generates is relatively, well...... insufficient, when it could have been so much better! It does kill the bugs that come into contact with it but I've had other ones similar to this item that really provided a good ZZZ-ZZ-ZZ-AAAAAPPP!!!!!!, adding to the sheer entertainment value of an item like this. I mean let's face it, part of using one of these things is the fun you can have watching and listening to the thoroughly satisfying ZAPPITY-zap-zap of COMPLETE & UTTER annihilation to all those annoying and pesky little bloodsuckers. So.... what I'm really looking for is....... VAPORIZATION, and I know "Stinger" could do this if they wanted to...... just say'n 😊!!! Other than that the item arrived on time and as described.

I find this zapper to be powerful enough, but with an electrified grid that is a bit small and a button that is harder to hold than other models.

I use these zappers to get rid of pesky moths, so I ordered this one to see if the features were worth the price. These zappers are basically available in three sizes, depending on the size of battery they use. There are ones that use AA batteries, ones like this model that use C cells, and ones that use the larger "D" cells. I was hoping that this one was the right balance between size and power.

Good:

+ Powerful enough to take out the moths and flies.
+ Good spring action on the switch - it cannot possibly stay on.
+ Innovative triangle design, intended to allow one to get the bugs in corners. In practice I didn't find this to be that useful, since I generally get the bugs on the fly.
+ Good looking design.

Not so Good:

- Doesn't always "zap" the bugs! These larger "tennis racquet" style zappers all have a protective grid on both sides, with the actual electrified grid underneath (the "AA" size ones simply have the electric grid). The problem with this model is that the protective grid has a cross hatch pattern, where the protection grids make little squares. Other models generally have simply horizontal lines. The result is that the bug sometimes - often, it seemed to me - hit more of the grid and less of the "zap". As a result, I found myself disabling the critters rather than killing them, making me go get them to "finish them off". This is the major complaint I have - it doesn't kill on the first strike. My larger "D" cell model has parallel lines, and it gets the bugs first time, every time.
