This inexpensive device works great in my Windows7 64 bits environment. It is easy to set up.
The software is made by ArcSoft, a US company. You do need extra extension cables to connect between the device and the input source, because they are all female connectors on the Capture Adapter.
I am converting Hi-8 tapes to NTSC MPEG2. Make sure you choose NTSC_M under property on Device Settings.
The quality is outstanding without any drop off. I highly recommend this device.

Nothing fancy here, but it gets the job done. I used it for digitizing old Betamax and VHS tapes and it seemed to work fine. Some of the editing capabilities of the software are a little tedious, and processing the file after you edit it takes a long time, but seems to work fine.

I wanted the Hossen device because it was specifically designed for use with my operating system, and it performs exactly
as advertised, but interested buyers working within certain time constraints should be aware that the product isn't
domestically produced, rather it's imported from the People's Republic of China, therefore shipping/delivery time(s) are
a real issue. Had I been aware of how long it would take the item to arrive I would have perhaps gone in a different
direction, but once in service it's an excellent product that I can't say enough good things about. Also I must say that when
I contacted the seller about the delay in receiving the item they responded in a timely, courteous and professional manner.
A great company, with a great product, just have a little patience and you won't be disappointed...

The software was very easy to install, works with Windows Vista and also recognizes my Logitech and Acer web cams. The price, under 20 dollars, was great. I would recommend this product for anyone attempting analog to digital conversion.

The included Arcsoft Showbiz software is easy to use and makes high quality capture files. They take up a lot of hard drive space, about 5.5GB for 2 Hours and 45 Minutes. You can reduce the quality to lower the file size, but there was a noticeable quality drop when fitting that raw data on a DVD, so I wouldn't recommend it. It added pixelation and artifacts. Note that Windows 8 is not supported, even in compatibility mode.

I had major problems with dropped frames on a variety of different PCs I tested it on, including my very powerful gaming rig. At its worst, the video turned into a slideshow and sometimes even went to black. The only way I was able to resolve the problem was to return the device and replace it with the elgato video capture. So far, that has worked well for me.

This was a small gamble, reference the less than $20 price. But keep your money in your pocket. The box says Win8 on it and the capture drivers install but the Arcsoft capture software has stayed unresponsive all night. I tried their "support" site but they are so afraid someone might be able to look at it without having purchased the product, they have an admin approval delay for access. I wish I could tell everyone how well this works, but it doesn't work at all.

Finally found an update to make it work intermittently. Still waiting for the registration to go through for the forum/support.

This has worked very well for me thus far. Installation of the software was a breeze on my Windows 7 PC. Using the supplied software program, converting old VHS tapes has been easy and enjoyable (it's been great watching old recorded footage!). I've got it hooked up to my VCR. The quality is fine, pretty much what you'd expect from analog tapes. Sure makes you appreciate the HD technology we use these days!
