The book had 110 pages or 1220 locations on my kindle. The book was about a girl, named Rachel and a man, named Zachery. Rachel was a deeply in debt waitress, who worked at a bar. Zachary was an FBI agent. Zachery first, became acquainted with Rachel at the bar and later, while he was undercover as a gang member. The book contained some forced oral sex, and forced sex. I did not like either character. Rachel is in the process of getting raped and she is thinking about her rapist's green eyes, his beautiful face and other crazy crap. I was so hoping for a dark, dominant and in charge hero, but what I got was a guilt ridden, weak, and wimpy Zach, which just killed this book for me.

I can usually read dark books. Zachary is an undercover FBI agent. When Rachel is kidnapped, he has to make a horrible decision. Either blow his cover, or claim and rape her as his so the other men would leave her alone. This part of the story I could handle, but she's taken and beaten again and raped either two or three more time by different people. I lost count. It was disturbing. Rachel's actions towards Zachary confused me also. He kept trying to protect her and she kept making bad decisions. No way she's that dumb. Common sense and the need for self preservation should kick in at some point. Sixty percent of this story is Rachel being raped, beaten or abused. I personally need a little balance even in dark reads.

I love Skye Warren's writing and jumped to one-click this free novella. Regrettably, Keep Me Safe is impossible to enjoy as it describes one traumatic capture and rape after another. Despite loving the story's single scene of unbelievably hot consensual sex, I found the majority of this disturbing and excessively assault centered read hard to stomach.

This was a hard core read and for sure not for everyone. There is dubious consent in this story and if rape and torture are not your thing, I wouldn't suggest you read it. Did I like the story? I found it ok, for some reason the heroine sometimes made me stop and wonder WTF! She was always so much more worried about Zachary, (the guy who rapes her in the beginning of the book)than for herself at times. I found this bugged me. She did redeem herself in my eyes though when she was able to help a certain situation rather than just lay there defeated. I would have liked to see Zachary have a bit more mental strength for an FBI agent. I found his character to be weak at times, and I just wanted to hit him in the head and go, "HELLO!! DO something, and grow a pair!"
There was also some discrepancies in the story as well that distracted me. Zachary had stated to Rachel that he quit his job, and then the next morning his cell phone rings and it is work and he has to go in to report to duty??? What the heck? Can't figure that one...
The only other thing was that I felt the plot was a bit weak and it seemed poor Rachel was getting violated evertime I turned the page. Some of the sex was hot and some of it disturbing. I will keep reading this author though as I did find the book entertaining, especially for a short, quick, read.
I am glad that the story ended the way it did, at least it delivered a happily ever after for a girl that had to endure some horrific crimes against her.

I wish I had read the reviews more thoroughly. I read a different book by this author and enjoyed her writing style so this seemed like an auto buy. There was no redeeming point to this story. There was no love story. There was no erotica. In a book with several love scenes only one was not Rape. Not 'non-consent' but still enjoyable just humiliation and pain. I wish there was a separate rating for this than erotica. That was misleading. I want my money back. This was torture porn. If that's what you are looking for have at it.

Rachel is struggling to make ends meet as a bartender/waitress. When Zachary and his gang come into her bar she is afraid and tries to stay away from them but is drawn to his eyes. When she wakes up and realizes she had been kidnapped, she sees that isn't the worst of it. She is going to be raped. But Zachary is whispering that he won't hurt her and he will take care of her. But when she is taken again and Juan gets ahold of her, she is beaten and thinks she will die. Then again by Carlos the boss. What will happen to her? Can Zachary save her or is he in trouble too?
The two form an odd relationship through this connection. He feels so bad that he couldn't keep her from being harmed but his attraction to her is real. She is drawn to him. Even though she feels he is a bad guy, she knows that deep down he isn't, it's just his cover. Can he save them both or will this be the end for them?

I loved Skye Warren's Beauty series and His For Christmas and her writing is excellent but this just is too dark for me. I know it is branded as dark erotica and I thought that I would take a chance on the novella / prequel to the series to see how I would manage with it. Nope, not for me. Too dark. The writing is very good and she really draws you into the characters and the crazy that is going on, but it was a lot more than I can handle. I have friends who would love this because of how dark it is, but it's just not for me ... okay, I'll stop now. I think I'm repeating myself.

Very well written erotic dark fantasy novella. I was pleased and surprised at the turn of events. Good romance, tormented male and great back story. Unless you are into really dark erotic story telling you make not want to purchase this book. It is pretty hard core even for me, and some scenes are very violent. As I said before it is a love story, but a different kind of love story. Do I believe this could happen in real life? Yes, this is a big possibility and the writer captures that. When you finish reading it will leave you to wonder if this is a true story, or is this just the imagination of the author.

While I enjoyed this book it is very dark and does contain some trigger points that may affect some readers. The book is short but full of action and violence. My heart was broken for all that happened to Rachel. I don't want to give any spoilers but she is an amazing character. If you like dark scenes then you will enjoy this book. I have reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

I’m a avid reader/fan of paranormal romance, science fiction romance, even dark ‘romance,’ but this book does not fit into any of those categories. This was a book of rape after rape and beatings and a lot of violence. The only plot was violence and rape. This is one for the trash.
