Second, and more importantly, the lid will not stay on. The manufacturer states to "Always open plug vent or remove lid when cup contains liquid over 65C (150F) ." I brew at 202 F and now let the glass sit a minute or so before capping with an open plug. Waiting isn't ideal as the glass (as expected) isn't great at holding heat : it goes from kinda hot to kinda warm in 15 minutes. I can't preheat my glass because it may keep the glass above the recommended temperature which means the lid won't stay on no matter what I do. Even with the plug open, I have to constantly push down on the lid (no easy task when you're driving a manual) to keep it from popping up and spilling coffee all over my car. Despite my best efforts, this glass has spilled coffee over my car 3 times in 6 uses.
I'm extremely disappointed in the KeepCup as I'm looking for a nice glass travel cup to take to work. I think I may have to resort to a stainless steel, vacuum insulated mug that not only can keep my coffee hot, but doesn't impart a strange odor and doesn't spill all over my car.
TL;DR - Pretty cool looking glass. Absorbs all odors, plastic lid smells weird, and the lid won't stay on.
Except... it leaks. Constantly. My department at my company received these as a Christmas gift from a vendor. Everyone's leaks on them by now. It comes out where the plastic lid meets the glass cup. I've had countless shirts and pants that needed dry cleaning because of this thing. It didn't leak from the moment it came out of the box, but within a month or two, everyone who has one, has stopped using it, because of this. Maybe the lid is slowly becoming deformed? I've never put mine in a dishwasher, or subjected it to any abuse.
I still use it, but it's just a little glass cup now, that stays at work, and has a useless lid that sits unused. And even though I didn't pay for mine, at the price they want for these, I'd think you'd expect it to not ruin all of your clothes.
Also, this is way overpriced. My guess is that this company makes these for maybe $3. I bought it anyway because I liked the idea of creating less waste. The marketing got me for sure, so good job there. However, there's nothing special about this since you can buy way cheaper coffee/tea transporters that are leak proof and actually keep your coffee/tea hot for longer periods of time.
Anyway, the product is well made and the glass doesn't feel cheap. The top doesn't come off easily. However, I wouldn't try and turn it over with a cup full of hot liquid. Overall, I'll keep using the one I bought, but at this price point, I wouldn't recommend it. Get more bang for your buck elsewhere.
