This book seemed promising, ratings were high and the cover looked great. However, the story was too crude for me to get through and the plot was obviously cliche. Now I rarely stop reading a book, but I couldn't continue with the story after the third sex scene occurred in a matter of 11 chapters and the main characters had only met once for less than 5 mins.

Reapers suck the souls from the living and dead; while Keepers save souls from the evil Reapers. Jack Walker is the son to the Empress and Emperor making him heir to the Reaper high leadership. He would like nothing more than to live his life for himself and away from his overbearing mother. Jack is sent to destroy the Chosen One, who is reported to be the youngest child of the Estmond Clan. However, meeting the "One" proves to be strange as he finds himself feeling a connection which can't be good for a Reaper where a Keeper is concerned. Lucy Mae Estmond is just trying to get over he fathers passing, but as a Keeper she has the duty to keep souls safe. Then her father appears to her as a new soul for her to keep with a message letting her know she is the Chosen One. Lucy hasn't a clue what that means or what to do with that info, so she begins to uncover the prophecy. Lucy also finds her life is now in more danger as she is no longer just a Keeper, but the one that could bring an end to the Reapers. Now if she could get rid of this pesky connection and feelings for a certain arrogant Reaper.

Overall, I can only fairly judge the book based on how far I read, but I forced myself to read until the main characters interacted, which took 9 chapters to make that happen. The language was too foul, almost overly so. Now I know people cuss, I'm not naive, but I really hate f-bombs being used so frequently.

Your/You're. Their/There/They're. i almost put it down several times just because the basics of grammar were missing. Soooooo irritating, and really ruined a decent book. Not amazing but decent.

It took me a few days to read this book, and usually if I really like a book and get into its over in one day. Sometimes it felt like this book was written by a teenage boy. To describe how a person looked they where always "hot", not really telling us much. I would probably read the next book just to see how things develops between Jack and Lucy. Hopefully it will get better.

I was given a arc book by the author for a honest review. Ok here goes.
The first couple of chapters that lay the story out before you ,took longer for me to read than usual.
They weren't grabbing my attention. Then Lucy and Jack have their first kiss and Pow!,from there
I was flipping pages like I couldn't get enough!
The plot thickened, and as the characters moved thru the story, there was drama, several aggressive fight scenes
and tension with Lucy and her best friend. I would highly recommend reading this book, but beware
The problematic cliffhanger leaves you desperately wanting to read the next installment of the series.

This story is different that anything that Jennifer has written before. This present day story of Keepers, the protectors of souls and Reapers the collector of souls, is something new. With the exciting addition of a forbidden romance, it made this a book hard time putting down. Action, tension, witty comments and family camaraderie had me laughing and biting my nails. I love each character for obvious reasons you will see when you read it. I thoroughly look forward to reading more on the Keepers and Reapers in the future books that are sure to come. This is definitely a book you don't want to miss!
This is an 18+ read due to sexual content and language.

I like the uniqueness of this book. The plot is original and refreshing. The pace of this book was fast and fun. I enjoyed the different characters and the roles they played. My only draw back wad the cursing. I am down with sentence enhancements but this took it a bit far. Saying that it didn't make me stop reading the book. With it's intense plot and easy flow o still liked this book and look forward to reading the next one.

This author must have just learned the "F" word and tried to wear it out. The premise of the story was good but all the vulgar language ruined the story. The ending was a let down. It was just a flimsy attempt to get you to waste more money.
