I would not call myself a MTT fan by any means, nor would I say that the San Francisco Symphony is my favorite orchestra- although it certainly is a great orchestra. But it is nearly tragic that the Keeping Score series was not continued after its last season a couple of years ago. This episode, which deals with the music (and person) of Charles Ives, is riveting from start to finish. Ives was a fascinating individual on so many levels, and this program does a fabulous job of exploring his music, his times, and his personality. Every episode in the series is a jewel and well worth the investment. If you have a Blu-ray player, by all means buy them on Blu-ray (the first season was not made available in Blu-ray unfortunately). However, if you do not have Blu-ray, you will not be disappointed by the standard definition DVD. The video and sound quality is as good as I have ever seen in a musical production. It is times like this that I really regret not being wealthy. If I were, I would fund many more of these programs. Buy it. Enjoy it.
