Can love conquer all? The author demonstrates how that works when one broken heart finds another.
Zach, so beautiful in heart and soul, has not had a normal life to this point. As the result of his childhood in a polygamous communal living situation he is missing huge gaps socially and he's undereducated yet very intelligent. He's been on his own since age 16 after having been beaten, whipped and thrown to the road for normal teenaged amorous behavior. Zach is so thankful for his current situation with these wonderful people that he is constantly taking care of everything and every one. He has an underdeveloped sense of self.
This is the story about one damaged spirit finding what it needs in the broken heart of another so that both can be more and whole
Sarina Bowen continues to win my heart with her great writing. This book still deals with some heavy themes, but it’s still so incredibly hopeful that I couldn’t help but smile throughout most of it. There is also more of the Shipleys, which is always a bonus!
For the third time, I read this in one sitting. I couldn’t help it. Zach has been my favorite character since I read Bittersweet, and I just had to know his story. Once again, I’m happy to say this novel grasps your attention right from the first chapter. The conflicts and struggles continue to be grounded, which is one of the things I appreciate a lot in this series. There is no unnecessary drama!
This is another novel told in dual POV. We finally get to read about what goes on in Zach’s head! Let me tell you, he is absolutely wonderful. His and Lark’s stories can get pretty dark at times, but their humor and hope shines through every line. Theirs is a story about recovering and finding their place in the world, and it’s amazing to go on that journey with them.
This awesome set of characters continue to make spaces for themselves in my heart. The character development is great, and doesn’t focus only on Zach and Lark. Everyone changes and grows as the story progresses, and we get little glimpses of everyone’s lives. There’s also a lot more of the Shipley family, and it’s great to see Zach’s perspective on them.
There are shifts in the timeline from past to present again. This time I found them to be executed pretty well. They don’t interrupt the pace and flow of the story, and give important insight into what Lark is going through. It’s pretty hard to read at times, though, but still enjoyable.
In the end, Keepsake is my favorite book in this adorable series. It brings back the sweetness from the first book, but still tugs at your heartstrings. It’s a very fast and funny read, and serves as the perfect ending. Highly recommend it to all Romance fans, for the third time!
Zach stole my heart. He made me laugh, he always made me smile, and then he made me cry so hard I felt a crack in my heart. His story will make you think about how many things we take for granted in our daily lives. When he loves, it's forever and boy does he love. It's like no other. He's loyal, innocent, sweet and oh so swoony. Sarina Bowen knows how to capture the essence of these characters that are so full of life and this farming community full of apple orchards, dairy farms and farmers markets - I was transported to a part of the country that I've never been to, yet when I closed my eyes, I was there. It felt like I was home. In an orchard. Surrounded by apples and smells that brought me back to my childhood when I was raised on my grandparents farm in Michigan.
Lark - she was an amazingly strong and intelligent young woman who has gone through a traumatic experience and suffers from PTSD. My heart hurt for her but what healed her was Zach. Their love was written in the stars and they both needed to follow the rainbow to heal, to love and to be forever.
I read and also listened to the audio at the same time with Keepsake. Trust me when I say you need both. This story will stay with me as a Keepsake in my heart for a long time to come. It will make you giggle, make you swoon, make you cry, pull at your heartstrings and then you will be so happy that Zach, Lark, Griffin, Audrey, Jude, Sophie and all the rest of the Shipley clan were created to make this series so heartwarming and unforgettable. Also, make sure you have cider on hand - hard cider!
The True North Series is probably my favorite series. So much research went into creating these stories. I'm craving cider donuts and apples...lots and lots of apples.
