Straightforward to assemble. If you plan to do any modifications like adding internal tower insulation or tower cooling fan now would be best time.
Minor disappointments:
1) Mine arrived with a compression dent, (more of buckled appearance) on the side of the left side of cabinet. Based on my installation it's hard to see and not worth shipping it back.
2) The two included Kegco taps (493K-CFBL) are throwaway ... after 48 hours they stick solid like glued in place due to the sugars in the beers drying ... an Oktoberfest and Summer saison. Why have such a nice kegerator and include these taps other than shave a few dollars off price. My old Danby kegerator from Costco lasted many years and the generic plated taps work fine. Upon investigation the clearances on these included Kegco taps are too wide ... this allows more beer to get stuck in the mechanism when tap is in off position. The old no name tap has tighter clearances and worked fine testing on this kegerator. The Perlick 630SS replacements (out of pocket) worked perfect.
The Good:
1) Customer service (phone) was very responsive to my questions on contents in shipment. Email was a waste of time ... just call and speak to a person live.
2) Temperature control. I installed a calibrated thin wire probe inside unit. Unit set to 34F in a 70F/45%RH room, air temperature in dead center cycled pretty consistently between 32F and 36F and water/beer in bottle was 34F. That was unexpected, and a pleasant surprise. One note: weakest insulation is in front door panel ... it runs 5F cooler than room temperature, while other 3 sides, (when compressor is not running), shows room temperature.
3) Nice empty, (red), 5# Kegco CO2 canister ... my local distributor filled for $15. Unlike "new" no name CO2 canisters which they won't fill without testing first.
4) Interior size ... nice to have the extra room for up to 3 home brew kegs or one 1/2 barrel commercial keg.
Despite minor disappointments, this Kegco K309SS-2 kegerator appears to be good quality kegerator that will hopefully last many years.
Secondly, this kegerator came with the incorrect package - we ordered a double tap tower for corny keg and it came with a single tap tower for a Sanke keg. I reached out to Kegco and they did ship me a double tap tower. That part was nice of them. But the parts are all very cheaply made and really crappy. The regulator doesn't seem to work, or the tank has leaks (all part of the conversion package that was shipped with the order). We checked all lines and connections for leaks and found none. Went through a 5lb CO2 tank in a matter of a couple days without even using the kegerator except for a test glass. Again, checked all the lines and connectors and found no signs of leaks (with soap bubble test) but going through 2nd CO2 tank so incredibly fast. Not sure if the regulator is not registering properly or there is a leak in the actual tank that we can't test for. Either way, this is not working out for us.
Lastly, the chrome railing around the kegerator arrived broken. It doesn't fit in the holes provided, so one side is always sticking up on the railing. Looks really bad.
When I received it, everything was packaged as expected and I was up and running in no time. I put the kegerator on "Deep Chill" mode and it began cooling instantly. Within an hour it was nice and cold and ready for a keg. While you wait for your kegerator to arrive, I highly recommend going ahead and researching places to fill up the provided Co2 tank. It took a few days for me to find a place to fill it. FYI - Dicks Sporting Goods cannot fill the Kegco Co2 tank, even though they fill smaller tanks for paintball guns.
Once I got my first keg, everything connected perfectly. Remember to go ahead and order your couplers to attach to a standard 6th barrel keg (pony keg). This kegerator only comes with fittings for home brew kegs, not industry standard kegs.
Finally after playing with the Co2 tank and getting the right amount of pressure behind the beer, I was up and flowing.
Lastly, I highly recommend paying a little bit extra to have the 2 faucet option. Even though it's a little more money, it's worth it in the end.
Thanks Kegco and The Beverage Factory for making this a great transaction for a great product.
Cheers and drink responsibly.
