Top Customer Reviews
I uninstalled all the apps I don't use and also reinstalled Kodi from scratch with the addons I use.
Works smoothly with Kodi, (addons: Exodus, 1channel, cCloudtv, Pro Sport, Sportsdevil)
Youtube and websurfing also works well.
Sling app works great too.
The remote is very basic and trying to the use the mouse pointer takes too long for me as the pointer moves rather slow. I use a mini wireless keyboard in conjunction as it's much easier and faster. I just use the remote it comes with to turn the device on and off.
For the price, this is a very very good box. Much rather use this than a firestick as you have access to the full Google Play store and don't have to worry about future Amazon updates messing up anything sideloaded.
Cons the box came set to January 1 2015 which caused some of my downloaded apps to stop working especially showbox the automatic date and time was selected but the time didn't adjust easy fix just turn it off automatic date and time and manually set it apps were now able to upgrade to the latest versions and worked without further issue. While on wifi had the box setup in my bedroom which is about 15 feet away for from the modem and was only receiving download speeds of 2 mbps luckily it didn't affect video streaming but all of my downloads took painfully long up to 30+ minutes to download a 395 mb file.
Would definitely recommend this box no instruction manual but you really can't do a whole lot of damage a simple factory reset won't fix
I did knock off a point because the unit lacks an off/on switch. It has a software switch that does nothing more than re-boot the unit. It does shut off with its own remote (witch is just short of useless) but that means I am constantly switching remotes between it and my Air-Mouse. Have tried to program the Air-Mouse to shut off TV, but that just causes unit to re-boot.
Yes, I would definitely buy again, and have highly recommended to friends. Make sure you get the S812 processor and Octo-core GPU. Units with these processors are faster than greased lightning!
PS, after entering wireless address you can watch more movies and TV than you will ever live long enough too see. No tinkering needed, however if you like to tinker there are adjustments and setting galore!
I have not had any problems with this.
I was able to link to my google account, and all of my streaming accounts.
It is very fast while running apps, I have not seen any slow downs.
It runs Kodi perfectly.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for an Android Box.
There is also some funkiness with menus and touch - I have a mouse plugged into it which works great most of the time, but for some reason once I dismiss the Android navigation menu at the bottom of the screen, I can't ever get it back by swiping up from the bottom. And of course, no multi-touch. It also works well with my mini Bluetooth keyboard from Microsoft, although it's often just easier to use the mouse with the on-screen keyboard for simple text entry. The remote is OK too - nothing to write home about but I did program it to control my TV's power and volume as well the T95Z.
Note that without the default app that provides the UI, the lit ring around the top of the box cannot be controlled. Changing its colors or turning it off seems to be a function of the included shell app (SWin8Launcher) and not built into the Android system itself.
