Kelsey is a collector of secrets. Since she was a child she has collected secrets about people and has written those secret into a notebook, which she keeps hidden. Writing them down keeps her from telling them. Unfortunately, she accidentally mixes the notebook into other school notebooks and takes it to school where it is stolen from her locker. Who took it? When one secret goes viral online, and devastates a friend, she is pretty sure who the thief is. But everything isn't always cut and dried and she must solve some clever clues to find the perpetrator. There are other mysteries. One includes a 130 year-old tortoise named Albert who is living in Becca's mom's animal sanctuary but needs his family. Another is the question of where her brother Kyle goes most days. Following him doesn't lead her to the answer. Kelsey solves the mysteries, the CCSC triumph and find a way to pull their differences together, through teamwork in a very satisfying conclusion. We can't wait for book #4!
In book three—with hopefully several more to come—Kelsey, Becca, and Leo, who make up the Curious Cat Spy Club, strike again. In this story, they rescue lost pets, reunite an ancient tortoise with its owner, and save their new associate member’s life when he tumbles off a cliff.
Young readers will especially love reading about the animals; Becca’s mom runs an animal sanctuary and Kelsey’s mom is the best animal control officer ever. All three kids have their own kitten—rescued from a dumpster in book one. The action is just right—not too scary but enough to catch and hold a reader’s attention.
There’s emotional tension galore: the pressure to be popular; the difficulty maintaining friendships when misunderstandings intervene; worries about an out-of-work dad; and a mom who’s dating the town sheriff. This book and its partners in the trilogy (soon to be series) are certain to appeal to those who want a book with mysteries and friendships and animals—and isn’t that most of us? Share this not-to-be-missed story with your favorite young reader.

Though I didn’t always like Kelsey her character is a typical preteen and will appeal to many in that stage.
The mystery is interesting and I didn’t want to put it down.
Though this is the third in the series I didn’t feel that I was missing anything because I hadn’t read the others.
