We bought this to replace our old Kelty child carrier, which we purchased secondhand over 5 years ago. The changes in design in that time period are amazing! We love the increased padding and redesign of the waist strap. Tons of storage, we broke it in on a short 7 mile hike, and had enough room for water, snacks, diapers and our first aid kit. This pack is very comfortable for parent and child! The only annoying feature is that the area where the child's feet dangle is enclosed with nylon, so any dirt/mud whatever on baby's shoes is contained in the pack instead of falling to the ground.

We bought this carrier to use on hiking/camping trips. It's a great carrier and my son loves to ride in it. Plenty of storage, the straps are soft and comfy, and it's very helpful that it stands up on its own. My only complaints are that 1) it doesn't keep the passenger's legs and hips in an ergonomic position; having the babies legs just dangle is not good for their growth/development. I would be 100% satisfied with the carrier if it kept the child in a sitting rather dangling position. The stirrups we bought separately help with that, but only if he keeps his feet in them. My other complaint is that my center of gravity is thrown off while wearing this because the child sits so far back away from the wearer. If the child were positioned closer to the wearer's body it would be much more comfortable. It's not a problem for me because I'm tall and have good balance, but my wife is 5'2 and cannot use this carrier (which is fine for us since she'd prefer a lower-profile carrier anyway, but it would be fantastic if we could both use this one).

I am 5'5" and my husband is 6'3", and this carrier works for both of us with just a few quick adjustments. Also love that our daughter is so comfortable, she absolutely loves going hiking now!

We bought this for our trip to Maui. The carrier made going through the airports much easier and our daughter loved being in it. It was also really nice b/c of all the pockets to store things in. The carrier was very stable, which really helped on the treks we did on the road to Hana. Make sure you know about all the adjustments as your comfort level wearing the unit will really increase if everything is "dialed in."

We love this pack! Our little boy absolutely loves riding around in it whether it is hiking, walking around the block or just working in the yard. He is very comfortable in it and has fallen asleep several times. It is comfortable for both my wife and I to carry him in. I am not in love with the sun shade, our boy usually ends up sticking his head out the side to see because it hinders his view. (i wish it were more like the deuter sun shades) works great for us now, but may be outgrown pretty soon. Our kid is pretty tall and can stand up with his feet in the bottom of the pack putting him well off the saddle at its highest adjustment. Other than that great purchase. The added padding of this over the Fc 1.0 was well worth it!

I've had the Kelty for about a year now and have no regrets about purchasing it. I walk a little more than a mile with my son in it each morning to drop him off at day care before work and, while it is a little more work getting him in and out of it compared to a stroller, he enjoys the view it provides. It is also great for hiking, although, if you don't have a lot of experience hiking with a 20+ lb pack, keep in mind that it will affect your balance.

Ergonomically, it is much easier on my back than other carriers I've used, especially compared to the Ergo. This is specifically why I bought it. If you are going on vacation and space is a commodity then I would probably choose a different pack though.

I probably could have gone with the cheaper version with less cargo space, but occasionally I find the space handy. If you are going to be using it in a hot climate then I would definitely go with the 1.0.

Although I would never take my hand off of the pack with my son in it, the extending stand adds generous stability when the pack is resting on the ground for loading/unloading.

If you have a child who hates getting in a stroller I would highly recommend giving this pack, or any of the other Keltys a try.

I find this baby carrier very comfortable. It sit nicely on my hips like a backpacking backpack. My 10-month-old daughter also seems very happy in it as it supports her body nicely and she is high enough that she can see over my shoulder, which she loves. I purchased this to replace our Ergo, which our daughter isn't crazy about because she can't see and because it is too hot. Also, I do not find the Ergo comfortable because it does not sit on my hips but instead pinches my waist. I was hoping to use the Kelty around the house as well as for our morning walks. It is great for our morning walks but just too large to be worn in the house. When I do wear it in the house I am forever bumping into things. Overall, the Kelty backpack seems well-made and great for outdoor activities.

I bought this after reading several reviews because I am a tall guy (6'9") and wanted a backpack that would fit as well as possible. This is a comfortable, well made backpack and my son (around 28 lbs, 21 months) loves to ride in it. It made our trip to visit my mom a lot easier in the airport, as a stroller can be unwieldy and this made it easy to navigate through crowds and get to our gate on time.

It seems really well made, and it's actually pretty comfortable for longer periods of time, even with an almost 30 lbs child back there! It's nice that it has a bunch of compartments for the stuff that you inevitably need to take with you while traveling with kids. Eventually, we're going to get out for a hike (in nature, not the airport!!) and I think it'll work fine.
