Dear Prospective Buyer of these Cotton Balls. They are little balls made from cotton. Not literally perfect sphere balls, they are roughly shaped which almost reduced my rating from 5 to 4 stars but I was reminded that these aren't supposed to be perfectly spherical and would actually be quite off putting if they were; as these are Cotton Balls.
They come in a bag of 500, amazing balls, for $5.85 as per this writing. That comes to $0.0117 per ball. Being that as lazy as I am, rest assured, Prospective Buyer, they happened to double as a convenient throw pillow until needed for a short time.
Liquid capacity is approximately 2ml per ball (ml/ball) and then saturates at 3.5ml/ball. That should be more than enough, though, for most applications. And, to those who use more than 2ml per ball, please note what products you use with these balls when commenting on my review. I'd like to invest in those companies.
- They are nice, clean, white cotton balls. - Good liquid capacity. - They are a good value. - They come in a bag. - The bag is made of clear plastic. - The bag with said cotton balls can double as a throw pillow for a short time, until needed.
- Only comes in white. - Used as a throw pillow doesn't last more than one evening. - Does not taste like cotton candy, which it sort of looks like while in the bag.
I mean, their cotton balls. I'm not sure what more I can say to review these. They are just as promised. They are a little bit smaller than I thought they would be but they're perfect for the household needs that I use them for. I love the bulk packaging so that I won't have to worry about getting more cotton balls or running out in quite some time. These are soft and seem to be a pretty good quality.
The fact that these are listed as medium size is absolutely ridiculous. These are the smallest cotton balls ever. Sure, you get 500 in the bag but you need to use 3 for every normal 1 that you would expect to use. If you attempt to use one on let's say on a nail polish remover bottle, you will be getting the remover all over the place. Besides being so tiny in size, they clearly have zero thickness. Removing nail polish usually requires me to use at least 12-15, and that's if it's not a dark color. Even using these for a face astringent requires at least 3, and forget about eye makeup remove. You're better off using a tissue. These are in no way medium sized and aren't even worth 2 dollars. The picture gives it some justice but once you put a little liquid on it it's over. Definitely look for something better.
They are balls of cotton...but they're very small. If you're used to big fluffy ones for removing eye makeup or nail polish, you'll probably use two of these ones to accomplish that (at least). That being said, they still function.
While this is 500 count, it's equivalent to, say 150 count of usual ball sizes. These are quite small. With ones that I buy in a regular pharmacy, one ball is the size of about 3 or 4 of these. I usually split them in half when I'm applying lotion, so as not to waste the lotion that gets absorbed by too much cotton. But with these, one ball is too small to either apply lotion or to take off mascara. I need to put at least 2 balls together. Where before I would put 2 or 3 balls together to take off my mud mask, with these i need to use at least 6 or 7, and then they don's stick together when I wet them because they are too smooth to catch on each other. That being said, the texture is a good quality, smooth and comfortable on the skin, or usable on any gentle surface.
I read reviews and people said that they were medium in size. I'm comparing with jumbo cotton balls from BJs which is what I had before to use for make-up removal.
Unfortunately, these are VERY small (and varying sizes of small, as they are not uniform in size). I usually end up using 3-4 at a time to get the top of my makeup removal bottle removal covered. Which just tells me I will blow through this bag of 500 cotton balls pretty quickly :).
There is nothing else wrong with the cotton balls. They hold up well, they don't leave a ton of fibers, but if you think you'll be OK with medium cotton balls but like using 1 cotton ball for a job (like make up removal) - you should probably look for some larger cotton balls. I will next time.
These are on the small side as others have stated, but for the price, I can bunch a few together and it's still worth it and they still work. That's the main thing. I use them for facial cleansing so the size isn't a huge issue for me. They also work for crafts as well if you're wanting to make mini snowman figures etc.
