I just got my new 22614 and even though I don't usually write reviews on things, I felt I had to on this one.
Firstly- I'm not too sure some of the negative reviews about this vacuum are actually for this model. The 22614 has the hose exiting the vac horizontally instead of vertically, which makes it very stable and it follows you around easily as you work. So no issues there. I always try to read reviews on the things I am buying but sometimes you just can't tell if they are correct or not. This had a lot of reviews and most of the negative ones seemed to be for a different model?
Secondly- this is sooo much better than the well-and-truly worn-out Panasonic it is replacing! We have been keeping house together for 30 years now and have been through quite a few vacuums. We keep dogs, so the pet hair is always a problem, and our house is quite old and the plaster walls create quite a bit of dust. So keeping things clean can be quite a chore, and our floor vacuums usually wind up taking quite a beating along the way.
This new vac was put to work today and first impressions are that it is really, really, good. It is a bit on the heavy side but that makes it stable; it had no issues going over uneven surfaces while staying upright. The manual seems to be well written, the power brush head seems very powerful, and not having to change vacuum bags was quite nice.
The cord rewind seemed a bit stiff but it is brand new so that may not be an issue later on. Our cord would lock itself just fine, there was one review that had a problem there- no problem on this one. The cord also does not get as warm as the cord on our old vacuum did- that is very reassuring. Plenty of power though; I was just amazed how much dust and dog hair it got out of the busiest rug in the house. Very impressive performance so far.
It just had it's first outing today so I can't speak to how well it will hold up, but the design seems very straightforward and most of the collection bin looks like it can be washed in the sink if it gets plugged up. The materials seem to be of good quality with a solid feel, unfortunately that also means there is a little weight there and the unit is a bit heavy.
There are two filters; a round one on top that can be washed and the rectangular HEPA one underneath that cannot. The filters are not terribly expensive and we'll see how long they last. Considering how much dust and hair it picked up today, there did not seem to be too much dirt in the filters so far, so they might last quite a while.
If I had to choose one nit to pick it would be with the accessory storage; as there really isn't one. There is a clip-kind-of-thing that goes on the wand right below the handle that holds the narrow nozzle and small dusting brush, and that's it. The accessories are out in the open and the they get in the way a bit, but the clip does seem to hold them securely. I guess time will tell how well that works; it might just take some getting used to and then will be a non-issue.
So, five stars so far. Can't see taking one off for the accessory clip, as it didn't seem to be a big deal. Can't see taking one off for the weight either; as it gives it a very nice quality feel to it. Maybe it's a generational thing, but 'light' seems so often to go hand in hand with 'cheaply-made' these days. This rig feels like it'll go a few rounds and still be standing.
Hope this review helps anyone thinking about buying this vacuum.

My last Kenmore was a model 27914, so I was already familiar with all the parts; and only had to spend a few minutes becoming familiar with the canister portion. In fact, I’ll bet that if I kept the old accessories from the 27914, everything would be compatible. The only difference in the accessories, is the “Upholstery PowerMate” tool is now called the “Pet PowerMate” tool.
Unlike previous iterations of the Kenmore canister vacuum, the accessories now sit in a caddy, attached to the telescoping wand; instead of inside a storage compartment built into the canister/motor assembly. Doing this reduced the vacuum’s cost. However, the caddy does not firmly secure the crevice tool and there is no place to store the Pet PowerMate tool. This may lead to “gravity anxiety” when using the telescoping wand, and having to keep track of where you last left the upholstery/pet tool.
The canister is supported by 2 large, fixed, rear wheels; and one smaller, swivel, front wheel. Due to the physics of how debris is moved through the dust cup, it is critical that you only operate the vacuum when all three wheels are on the same level (surface). This warning is not in the instruction manual, but is displayed on the motor base, and can only be seen when the dust cup assembly is removed (first picture).
In addition to thermal protection of the motor, this model has a motor protection valve. Similar to the relief valve on a pressure cooker; the motor protection valve opens if an insufficient airflow is passing through the hose & dust cup assembly (second picture). When the valve opens, you’ll know, because there will be a sudden change in pitch (high to low) from the motor. The valve will close, only when a sufficient airflow is detected moving through the hose & dust cup assembly.
At the front of the handle & hose assembly, is a suction control valve. Its purpose is to control the amount of suction force at the “business end” of the hose. It works by manually opening and closing a vent at the front of the handle (third picture). Keeping the vent slightly open reduces the chances of unnecessary open/close cycling of the motor protection valve. Even when the vent is fully open, the suction force is so great that; if you get your fingers too close to the vent opening, you can feel vacuumed debris hitting your fingers at an alarmingly high velocity.
Routine maintenance is straightforward, as per the instruction manual; although I strongly recommend that you practice disassembly & reassembly of the dust cup, motor and filter assemblies, when you first unpack the vacuum; while everything is “still clean.”
Speaking of filters, because longevity seems to be intrinsic to Kenmore canister vacuums, you might want to purchase 1 or 2 extra sets of primary and exhaust filters. No need for extra agitator drive belts, as I have never had one go out on me. Based on my previous experiences with Kenmore canister vacuums; you can expect an average unit lifetime of at least 12 to 20 years.

This is the third Kenmore canister vacuum, I've owned in my lifetime. The first one I bought in 1984 and I lost it to my second divorce. Immediately after my divorce, I bought a second Kenmore canister in 2003 and it broke in 2015, when a critter damaged the hose. After a 4 year love-hate affair with a Eureka, I was extremely pleased to see that Amazon began selling Kenmore products.

I love this vacuum cleaner this is the third one that I purchased, I'm using them for my house cleaning business. They really really get used everyday and they're holding up to everything. The suction is amazing if you keep the canister clean and empty it frequently, and change the filter that's in the canister frequently. I put the filter in a lingerie bag and just wash it in the washing machine and then let it dry I actually went online to Sears parts and ordered some extras so that I could have one in the machine all the time while the others are drying. I also love how light this vacuum cleaner is because I have to haul it in and out of the car several times a day. This is the best vacuum cleaner I've ever used for my business.

Terrific Vacuum. I bought this to replace my upright that was giving out. This little beast takes care of the pet hair, and I have a LOT of it. 3 dogs and 2 cats. One of the dogs is a Borzoi, so there's lots of long hair and one of my cats has very fine fur and she sheds constantly. (from all the hair I get up off the floor, you'd think they'd all be bald by now) The suction is great, and the all the features are very well thought out. Since you're only pushing the power head and not the whole motor, it's a great deal easier to use than an upright. The only issue is that if I wait too long to vacuum, the canister fills quickly and can be difficult to empty. If you remember to empty it before it fills and clogs, you'll save yourself the headache of digging out the hair. More an issue of user error than in the design. I do wish the canister was as large as my old upright, but the power and convenience of use make up for that.

I love this vacuum. It’s light easy to maneuver. Has great suction. I previously owned a Kenmore and after 25 years the motor went in the power nozzle so I purchased this one. I’m very impressed so far and no more bags. I couldn’t believe all the dirt it picked up. Love it!

A pesar de su tamaño es muy efectiva, sobre todo con el pelo de los perros.
