I bought this microwave in black. Its small enough that it does not take up too much space in small apartment. Its powerful enough to heat up food thoroughly as much as my large over the range microwave did. Average sized plates fit in the microwave, but I tried a bit of an oversized plate and it fit, but the plate did not have enough room to spin. Basically just use the normal sized dinner plates and you will have no problem. The microwave door opens with the handle. The buttons are easy to use and easy to find everything you need. The display is bright green, and you can see it in the dark if you need see the time. I have had this microwave for about a month. I will probably never use the popcorn function (I have a whirley pop), so I can't state how it pops microwave popcorn. I reviewed many micro's before buying this one, and I am happy with this buy.

I was very surprised at the price of this Kenmore microwave offered on Amazon, because I ordered the exact same model (69079) directly from Sears. The oven alone cost $59.00 and with shipping and tax the total price was $76.68.

This model cooks at 700 watts but because of the small size of .7 cubic feet heats stuff as quickly as my old Sharp 1.2 cubic feet which cooked at 900 watts. The model has a child lock and the usual cooking selections, such as quick touch for popcorn, potatoes, frozen entrees, fresh vegetables, etc. You can also perform multi-stage cooking. The key pad is sensitive to a slight touch, you do not have to poke hard.

I am giving this micro five stars although I haven't had the oven for very long. If the unit does not hold up well I'll adjust the stars, but so far I am very happy with my choice!

It's a nice little microwave oven intended for places like dorm rooms. We unboxed ours today before we take our kid back to college and put pop corn in; it did very well. Only problem was that it is so small inside the popcorn bag got caught and stopped turning.

Bigger problem; it's quite noisy.

Biggest problem; this microwave designed to put out 700 watts of cooking power actually consumes about 1060 watts when hooked up to a wattmeter. That's far higher then most colleges want microwave ovens to be consuming. Once you buy it and read the manual you'll see it 'consumes 1000 watts' - but even that's not accurate. So in some dorm rooms kids using this will be blowing circuits.

I do understand; no one puts real power consumption on the box or description. If you are lucky you find it in the specs - in the manual. And in this case even that information is wrong.

Been a Loyal Customer of Kenmore 0.7 Cu. ft. Counter Top Microwave -
this is my 3RD round:
Maybe because the previous ones were manufactured in the United States,
the quality was to my satisfaction;
however, this one, maybe because it's manufactured in China --
Annoyingly WAY-TOO-NOISY, buttons are NOT as sensitive to touch, especially the START BUTTON (have to hold DOWN the unit with one hand & press hard the SB 2-3 times with the other -- INCONVENIENT);

SIGNS ARE NOT CLEARLY VISIBLE -- another inconvenience.

As it's COMPACT serves my need!

As for the POWER USAGE, we shall see when I get the bill.

I'll get adjusted to the inconveniences but the HIGH-VOLUME-NOISE of this product is something else;
Hope, it gets improved in the future.

I bought a Panasonic microwave that arrived damaged, so I had to return it. This is my replacement microwave and it works great, doesn't take up much space and was actually cheaper than the other model I had bought. The only reason I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is that it doesn't have a button for the microwave to open - you have to pull it and sometimes the microwave moves when you do this.

I've always owned large super-sized microwaves, but when my last one decided to stop working, I decided to shop for a smaller-sized counter top version.

There are so many brands, models, and prices for microwaves, that it was rather daunting. That's when, rather than making a trip to the store 15 miles away, I began my search for online reviews for various brands and models.

Needless to say, I bought this one, and I'm very pleased with my decision. Even though the wattage is less than the bigger models, because the inside space is small, it takes less time to heat food and liquids.

It warms food evenly, the turntable is a plus, the light inside is bright enough to see what's cooking.

I like the way the door latch works. Instead of pushing a big button to open the door (like on other brands), you pull the door open. This allows me to open the door just a little or all the way.

I have square dishes, not round, and I was curious if one of my plates would fit inside, but there was room to spare, so that was good.

The only negative that I would mention is that I've always used those round plastic microwave covers to reduce splatter and massive clean-up chores...you can use the cover, but it doesn't rotate well with the turntable, because it's a smidge too big. But the door can still close and it doesn't change how the food is warmed. Just a little annoying at first, but now it doesn't matter! :)

You gotta love Amazon. I click the button, and two days later UPS is handing me the box, and I didn't even have to leave home in the nasty rain. It's so convenient when you know what you want to order!

I'd choose this microwave again, hands-down over the others.
