Donald Gibson goes deep to show the over lapping of the Eastern Establishment (which included New Orleans) to show the forces behind the decision to murder the President. His policies were the opposite of their objectives, from neo-colonial wars, population control to science, technology to 1963 and arms control and detente with the USSR.. NO President was more despised by the 1% of the 1% than JFK according to the author. Gibson digs deep to show the overlapping relationships between these elites and the desire to rid the nation of the energetic and forwarding thinking President.
One person commented why they did not just poison the President. The obvious reason is they wanted to send a message to future Presidents that to challenge their control and power, this is what would happen to them as well. That is why he was slaughtered in broad delight in front of thousands of people.
My only disagreement with Gibson is that most of the people he argues were responsible may not have been in actual power themselves at the time of the execution, but they had all served (except Rockefeller) at one point as major figures in the government. Especially Dulles, a life long spook, McCloy in the department of Defense during WW Two and as High Commissioner of Germany after the War ended. It is folly to not recognize that Dulles had numerous associates in high places within the government that were loyal to him. They followed orders. You do not spend 40-50 years in the the OSS and CIA without building numerous loyal servants. So my disagreement is when the author says that the government did not murder the President, perhaps technically it may be true. However the forces that were loyal to Dulles, McCloy, Rockefeller and the rest of the elitist establishment carried out orders from them. Vincent Saldandria is still right. Dr. Gibson goes deep to show the lengths with which Dulles, McCloy and Ford would go to whitewash the "investigation" of the murder of President Kennedy.
Along with Battling Wall Street : The Kennedy Presidency and Environmentalism: Ideology and Power, Gibson has written three of the most important books available on the politics of our times. Read in concert with books like The Lost Science of Money: The Mythology of Money, The Story of Power and Foundations and Public Policy: The Mask of Pluralism (Suny Series in Radical Social and Political Theory), we begin to see just how thoroughly our minds have been colonized and neutered by the 1%.
Absolutely indispensable reading for every American, regardless of party or ideological affiliation.
