Kensington International Travel Plug Adapter with Dual USB Ports
The Kensington International Travel adapter provides safe, simultaneous charging of up to three devices in over 150 countries. Dual USB ports make it ideal for charging your iPhone, iPad or other smartphones and tablets. Plus, with the 2-pole adapter* you can power anything from a laptop to an Ultrabook.
Plugs for US/Japan, AUS/China, UK, EU
Simply push the integrated plug release button to one the four sliders on the side of the adapter to slide out the correct prong configuration for the wall outlet of the country you are visiting. When you’re done charging, just slide it back into the adapter.
Allows you to power higher-draw devices like a laptop, Chromebook or Ultrabook. *Does not support grounded 3-prong U.S. plugs.
The 2.1A ports allow you to get a fast, full charge for one tablet or two smartphones.
Makes it very easy to pack, and since the all the prongs retract back into the main housing when charging is completed, there’s no chance of leaving loose pieces behind.
Provides complete peace of mind, protecting your devices and their internal components from getting damaged due to a power surge.

NO Italian plug that I can see. This is important! Some Italian receps will NOT accept just anything.
Italy is weird in Electric Land. SOME receps are older and a little different. Take a variety of Italy adapters or you'll be borrowing one. Italy plugs have THREE prongs in a row.
The UK plug will most likely work although you don't get grounded.
The prongs on the Euro plug are narrow [skinny] on this device. There is another Euro plug with fatter prongs. Take it too.
The USA recep is on the back under a sticker. It's a little wonky. Some plugs are hard to fit in without some wiggles. A three way adapter gives you some more outlets! While we are on this subject, Look closely at the USA recep. SEE? There are the USB ports right behind it! That's why your three prong American cords won't go in. You can just cut that third....
It's fused but I bet you can't find another fuse. Maybe Kensington has them?
The USB ports are 5V. 2.1 amps which if true is adequate power for more than one device. You can get adapters that have more USB ports too. iPhones maybe three but iPads, just one. The iPad adapter you get with your iPad is ten watts. 2 Amps times five Volts is ten watts. SEE? Worth it for the USB ports I think. You just need the right cable for your phone or gadget. The output from the USB ports is, presumably, safe. THAT may be all you need.
I saw this item on Apple's web site on offer. If THEY are selling it , it's good to go. JUST REMEMBER, THIS DEVICE DOES NOT CHANGE VOLTAGE!!! In Europe you have 250 Volts coming out of this thing! Your chargers and other devices MUST be able to work on 250 Volts! YOU ARE WARNED!
Made in Thailand and NOT China....
I purchased the USB version of this adapter plus the Monster To Go Power Strip as was recommended on several travel web sites. However, when I tested the combination, I found the 3-prong strip didn't fit into the Kensington USB version of this adapter. I ordered the older Kensington model (33117) without the USB ports and found the 'front' of the adapter has changed between models. The older version accepts 3-prong US plugs.
Amazon has updated the packaging pictures since I first purchased the newer model to make it clear the new model does not accept 3-prong plugs. I will upload a picture of the 'front' of the older model. I will note that while closely examining the packaging of the older model, there is one small picture plus tiny writing at the bottom of one side of the box that says "Not for 3-prong plugs". Whether that was meant to apply to the input plug or output plug is not clear. The US output of both models does not include the 3rd (grounding) prong. I suppose for the newer model it's pretty clear they don't want you using 3-prong plugs as input.
The older version is 30g lighter (110g vs. 140g), but you'll have to carry a USB power adapter(s), too, if you don't plan on charging from a laptop. The reviews of the older model here on Amazon as well as on other travel sites seem solid. The reviews of the newer version aren't very good, though most are unhappy they can't use 3-prong plugs anymore.
If you want built-in USB and fewer adapters, go with the new model. If you want 3-prong compatibility and/or years of product testing and reliability, go with the old model.
However, I do like the dual USB ports and the multi-input/output options. I haven't tried this internationally yet, but it looks fine for ipad/iphone etc. Not quite what I'm looking for.
1. I can plug in my MacBook Pro's power brick into this, and it will NOT fall out. I've purchased and tried to use cheaper international adapters where the US plug was simply not grippy enough to hold anything of weight. The Kensington is unmatched here. I plugged in my Apple Charger, and it stays in place. It doesn't look like it's going to fall out from the charger, and the charger doesn't look like it's going to fall out of the wall.
2. It has 2 USB chargers built in. This feature is ingenious as now I no longer have to carry my USB chargers everywhere and can rely on this. In fact, I've found myself using the charger JUST for the USB charging capabilities.
I can't recommend this enough. I haven't come across a better international adapter that is this well made, works with Apple chargers, and is compact. Buy this, you won't regret it.
