Over the years I’ve used a wide variety of Kensington keyboards but this is first convertible unit that can operate via USB or Bluetooth.

As designs go, this is best described as a full-sized unit, typical of what you might find with a desktop computer or in an office. It has the ubiquitous numerical keypad to the right along with a complement of F1 through F12 keys above the standard keys.

About the only major differences belong to the keys and overall thickness. The keys are chicklet instead of the usual raised keys you might find on a generic keyboard and the thickness is in the category of svelte (read below about the battery hump).

Construction appears top notch with a black matte finish that seems to wear better than the usual glossy you find.

In keeping with the market share tradition, this unit is clearly marked for Windows users with the Microsoft flag taking prominent position near the space key. If you’re wondering, there are no secondary markings for any other OS such as OS X, Android, Chrome, etc.

While this unit is ultra thin there is a prominent hump in the back for battery storage and while this may look ungainly at first it does serve secondary duty as an elevator (of sorts) that keeps the keyboard at a nice upward angle. Even with batteries installed (2 AA, included) this is still a lightweight unit. I did find it somewhat odd that pop-out elevators are included on the bottom. Extending these actually made the angle a bit steep (just the battery hump is sufficient in my opinion).

Connections are simple enough. Essentially, if you want to use the USB connector you merely attach the included USB cable to the keyboard and the other end goes, you guessed it, into a USB port on your CPU.

I bought this to replace the compact keyboard that came with a large Dell Win10 tablet PC. Don't want to use a keyboard with a receiver because I only have 2 USB ports on the tablet and didn't want to permanently take one up. Worked great, at first. Connected without issue via Bluetooth, and worked fine. Powers down after only a few minutes, and then misses your first few characters, but you actually get used to this and get in the habit of hitting the space bar or some other key to wake it up if you haven't used it in a while. I could live with that.

Then, 2 or 3 months after I bought it, it started doing something weird. Whenever I hit either shift key and tried to type capital letters, it started throwing in random pipe characters ("|"). Wasn't just a Bluetooth issue because it also happened if I connected it to USB with a cable. Tried replacing the battery of course, thinking it was a low power issue, no help. Or course tried everything I could think on the PC. Made it impossible to use, and I had to go back to the original keyboard.

Now, I have to say Kensington warranty support was great, and quickly shipped me out a replacement. Problem solved. For 3 or 4 months this time. Then, out of the blue, exactly the same problem started happening again. I don't know why such a bizarre problem should recur, but it did, and I expect a longer lifetime out of a keyboard. Not bothering to replace this time, I'll find something else. Which isn't easy as there aren't a lot of full size Bluetooth keyboards out there, but I've had it with this one.

It is a full-size keyboard. It is a bluetooth keyboard. If you alternate typing between your computer, laptop, phone or tablet often, this is a decent time-saving, convenient keyboard. It's not wimpy and it looks well-crafted. The keys are in familiar places and sensitive. I consider it good value for the money.

It is very straightforward: Power it with a USB cable attached to your computer or insert the (first pair enclosed) AAA batteries. Use its bluetooth capability by pairing it with a device. You can install it on several devices, but only use it on one at a time. Want to type "I love you" on several devices at once? Not going to happen; and wanting to have several devices connected at once does not even make much sense when you think about it that way (but it looks like people are asking the question anyway.). You use it with one device, then disconnect the device, then the keyboard is available to connect to a different device.

My only gripe is the way my thumb hits the space bar. There is just a tiny border below the bottom keys, and my thumb hits the space bar at a bad angle. Maybe it is because I am most used to a keyboard with a nice wide slanted/angled plain at the bottom of the keys. I guess I could use the term "ergonomic", and the bottom edge of the keyboard is not wide enough for it to be ergonomic for me. Maybe, it's just a matter of getting used to it. But, right now, my thumb does not always hit the space bar properly. And there is also some play in the space bar that is not in the other keys. It also makes more noise than the other keys. But it's really no biggie--just me.

This is a very useful keyboard. It's full sized with a number pad, which makes it incredibly versatile. I often work with spreadsheets on Excel and love having the number pad option.

I like the keys. They give a bit of resistance, and you can feel when you are typing, unlike with some other keyboards I've tried.

While you can use it with a Mac, it isn't designed for that. (No command key, for example; my Mac did recognize it and the keyboard worked but to make it work well you'd have to go in and assign keys to the Mac functions.) Since my primary computer is a Mac, that is a drawback for me, but for PC users this is a fantastic keyboard. It feels good on my hands and offers all of the functions I could possibly need without any cramping. I will say that if they did design one of these for a Mac I would definitely buy one to replace my current desktop keyboard.

It's easy to hook up: either via Bluetooth with most devices, or wired if you just want to plug it in and have it ready to go. I like that versatility. I've used this with my Mac, with a PC, with my iPhone and my iPad. It would work also as a keyboard for most Android devices.
