Buy it. Like, now! I have zero complaints about the functioning, comfort, reliability, efficiency, etc., etc. It's been with me at two different schools (I teach), and a whole bunch of congresses; I have lent it to colleagues and students; I lost track of how many times I've dropped it, but I can count five different places where it has chipped. And it. is. still. going.
I rarely have so many good things to say about a product. This one earned it. Quality and longevity. A unicorn. Hell yeah!
I had a navigator remote (almost identical shape and design) for many years. I always had to remove the batteries when I travelled so they wouldn't run down. When my navigator broke I bought this. It is wonderful. Much cheaper than a navigator and basically the same operation as my old navigator but with critical differences:
> small USB dongle fits INTO the remote when not in use. BY inserting in the remote it kills the batteries so you NEVER have to remove the batteries. To remove dongle from remote just press on it and it pops out. then you insert it into the laptop. Windows 7 home premium 64 bit recognized it immediately but I suspect it would work with any windows version (old or new). I used to have to carry a bag for the remote, the dongle, and the two batteries. Now I just carry the remote since the other parts are inside of it.
>USB dongle is half the length of the navigator version with makes it easier to use when space is at a premium
>Buttons are much smaller. Initially I thought this was bad as I was used to very large buttons, but I quickly retrained myself and now I see a big advantage. My navigator broke because the buttons got smashed in my suitcase. I suspect that will not happen with these buttons. Though they are small they are far apart so even someone with weak or frail hands should have no trouble with this.
My hang up in doing that had been a lack of a "clicker." Now I have one and it has made a tremendous difference.
This thing fits my hand nicely, is not heavy so you can pack it around the room, easily slips into a pocket when you need both hands to make a point and your hand instantly relocates the correct button for the job. I did find out that the laser pointer does not work on a television screen. That is how we display things in our meeting rooms. That is an issue relating to that not the laser itself. The laser works fine on the wall and other media methods. This will seem like a little thing but it makes a huge difference, the laser points pretty close to where you need it intuitively before you hit the button.
Pros:
- Small (easily fits in your hand)
- Battery life is excellent (40+ days of heavy use)
- Base (receiver) fits inside of the unit (transmitter)
- Works without the need of drivers for both Mac and PC
Neutral
- AAA batteries, I wish they were AA batteries (as with most of my other Educational devices), but I'm sure it was a size thing (not a big deal, but just an FYI)
- The receiver looks just like a USB thumb drive, so I think people mistakingly assume it's their presentation
- I wish their was a way to see the battery levels to prevent mid-presentation failures (note: this hasn't happened, but I do worry about it)
Cons:
- In our environment (this is a pro for many), small isn't necessarily good as a few of these have "walked off"
- It's my understanding that the transmitter and receiver are hardware linked, so if you lose one, you need to throw the other away (some other units are reprogrammable, but that too can have a unique set of issues). I have 3-4 orphans waiting to find their mates.
- I've found that OS X (Mavericks) now recognized the receiver as a keyboard/mouse when you connect the receiver via USB. You can easily ignore the message, but I wish either Apple or Kins
At this price (vs. our $120 high end remote unites), we aren't too upset when one goes missing.

I've been using laser pointers for years for teaching at work. I usually buy the cheaper ones which last about a year, but I decided to invest in a more expensive version.
Initially this clicker was great, I could use it from the back of my classroom no issues. The laser pointer was clear. It allowed me free movement around the room.
I purchased this at the end of Feb and at the end of March it completely stopped working, for no reason. I am unable to get in contact with any one despite my best efforts since it has stopped working to arrange an exchange or a refund so its ended up being money wasted.
However, the feature that I like most was not present or as advertised. The Bluetooth hub should slide into the back of the clicker housing for storage and to disconnect the battery circuit.
The model I received had a tiny hub and it stores within the battery compartment and does not isolate the batteries. The faff of repeatedly removing the battery cover and the possibility of eventually damaging it to gain access to the hub along with the chance of losing the tiny hub is not worth my money.
It is being returned.
It's a two piece item and you must ensure that the dongle part is in a usb port (ie a laptop or podium machine) as the clicker part has to use its twin dongle. That's to say you can't simply borrow someone else's dongle to use this as they seem to be linked.
As the title suggests I buy these because they get mislaid, forgotten, lost - so what I have done is used nail polish and painted a stripe into which I carved my partner's name and painted a small stripe on the dongle and carved his initials into the semi dry polish. This might seem a bit odd but it's easier than trying to read the serial number on the device if the thing gets mislaid and handed in.
As far as operation goes - the device allows you to move through a slide presentation with ease and point out relevant facts. It also works with other applications as a remote mouse.
