Emitting a light that is 3 times brighter than ordinary halogen bulbs, HID lights greatly assist in providing a clearer and expanded view of what is ahead. HID lights have a glass chamber of gas that replaces the filament of traditional halogen light bulbs. The gas is ignited with an approximately 23,000 volt charge and stays illuminated by a constant 12v source that is provided by a ballast which is connected directly to your battery. Remarkably, HID lights are able to provide greater light output with much less power consumption. Studies show that a 35 watt HID lamp produces 3 times as much light compared to a 55 watt halogen bulb. Moreover, the 55 watt halogen bulb uses a continuous power draw of 10-15 amps, while the HID system uses 20 amps for starting up, but then drops down to a mere 3 amps during operation (that is up to 80% less power during use!). In addition to high output and low power usage, the HID light provides longer service life. With no filament to vibrate and fatigue, HID bulbs last roughly 10 times longer than halogen bulbs.

I have worked on cars for years, the installation was straight forward but it could of been easier had there been some kind of information other than the generic basic instructions online. I received no literature with the product!
The first hurdle was getting my existing lock ring from the old bulb to the HID bulb. There should be a little something about how you have to twist the HID bulb to separate it and then you can add the lock ring so the bulb can be secured to the housing. I know not to touch these bulbs with with my bare finger tips, I think a warning to those that may not know would be fair. Last bit of trouble was after everything was installed and operating, the Hi/Lo beams were reversed. After a bit of searching on line and a light bulb going off in my head, I just had to switch a couple wires around at the supplied connector. I realize there are many different applications, but a little note included would have saved a little time.
Besides that, these lights are great. I feel a whole better driving at night.
The next test is to see how long they last?
