My two sons run around the house turning everything into guns. They have turned sticks, poles, clothes hangers, carrots, forks, and even asthma inhalers into guns. They chase each other going "pew, pew" at each other. They are ages 6 and 3. I never bought them guns, because I didn't like the idea of my sons touching such a dangerous tool. (Kinda how most parents don't let a 6 or 3 year old hold even a butter knife)

I asked myself "What's the point?" They already turn everything into a gun anyway. I figured I would buy one of the best constructed toy guns around. Why not? If you're going to do something, might as well jump in whole hog right? This was the best from what I could tell on the reviews and the description of the toy itself.

It is wood and metal. It has weight to it, but not too much for a child. I don't expect this to fall apart even if used as a hammer, though I don't recommend you teach your wee one to do this. My only fear is that my son will use it as a stick to hit with. I don't think he will, but we will cross that bridge when we get to it.

It must use specialty caps. I modifies some to fire, but its not the reason for the lower rating. As it is played with, the cap area gets worn down flat quickly. Other than that, it is wood and metal. It cocks and fires and the concept of the cap allowed me to teach the functions of real muskets.

I thought this was a cap gun, but we could not find a way to load the caps and there were no instructions. The gun is well made and my grandsons enjoy playing with them (we bought two.) If anyone knows how to use caps with it, please let me know.

I bought five of these for my grandsons who were visiting for the 4th of July. They loved them and played all day chasing each other and playing war games as little boys love to do. They held up well even though they often hit the ground and were played with very hard. We did not use caps, so I cannot say if the caps work well or not. I put them away for the next visit to Grandma's when they will all be asking for them to play again.

I recieved this along with other items I purchased , all of the items were boxed together, this pittol was just laying in the box, not packaged, not even in any form of box or container, the "wood" part of the pistol was marred, it actually looked as if it had been played with already, I am sending it back and NO I would not reccommend this item.

The gun was OK, but we wanted a cap gun, and ordered roll caps along with it - and it DOES NOT fire caps as advertised.

Real wood. Good quality metal barrel. Cocking and trigger mechanism is solid. I got this for a pirate costume. With a little sandpaper and some roughing up with a hammer, this makes a great prop.
