I could list in minute detail all of the features but everything it does with consummate ease!
This is a complex piece of machinery that requires a lot of description -- and a lot of learning. For that reason, I'm including a video review that shows how things work. Unfortunately, the limit on video length/MB means that my written review will be lengthy as well.
As a mixer, the Kenwood cannot be beat. It comes with a beater, a stirrer, a dough hook, a whisk, and stirrer for cooking, all of which are solid metal, except for the two sets of silicone sleeves that go on the cooking stirrer. The 800 watts of power and the 7-quart capacity work bowl can tackle duties that my 2008 KitchenAid struggles with. Although I don't usually make bread dough via a mixer, the Kenwood handled the job remarkably well. It did just as well whipping egg whites, a much more delicate job.
The most amazing feature of the Kenwood is the induction cooker. The temperatures range from 70 F to 285 F, and those temperatures can be sustained for up to three hours. For longer than that, you have to stop and restart. I boiled two cups of water in the Kenwood in the same time that it took my microwave to boil the same amount. Despite having this for over two weeks and using it daily, I'm just beginning to discover the recipes I can make with it. The company promotes risotto as the feature recipe, and it isn't wrong! How awesome is it that you can melt the butter in the mixer, add the rice, then liquid -- and let the machine do all the stirring? I made a delicious shrimp and white truffle risotto on my first attempt. Soups are less interesting since I find I can make them just as easily on the stovetop; however, having a machine do the stirring and timing takes removes some of the attention you might otherwise give it. A steamer pan fits inside the mixing bowl for perfect veggies. I'm still experimenting with adapting recipes and probably will for months to come. I'd like to try it for sous-vide cooking, although I'd rather master the machine before I branch out to uses not necessarily supported by it. Of course, I'll come back and report when I finally get around to trying that technique. My guess, though, is that the temperature is too variable to work with sous-vide.
The food processor comes with a regular blade and six disks. The bowl doesn't have a huge capacity, although it does a great job. I was most concerned about Consumer Reports' findings about safety issues with the disk still spinning after the top was removed. Kenwood has a sensor in the top that stops operation as soon as the top is lifted. When I first tried the food processor, I thought that the disk didn't stop when I removed the top; however, the mixer continues to "stir" below, making it sound as though it is still spinning. I haven't decided yet whether I can retire my KitchenAid food processor, with its bigger capacity bowl but also bigger footprint.
The blender is subpar for such an expensive appliance, even though it looks as heavy-duty as the rest of the Cooking Chef. It has a glass container and a hefty, wide base. I was really pleased with it when I made smoothies using frozen berries, frozen bananas, Greek yogurt, and almond milk -- but then I tried crushing ice. No go. (See the video.) If you expect to make a lot of frozen drinks or crushed ice, you'll be disappointed. I will NOT be retiring my Oster Versa and my Ninja blenders.
LIke a KitchenAid mixer, the Cooking Chef can be expanded through accessories such as a pasta roller, meat grinder, grain mill, ice cream maker, but not all are available in the US as of this writing. You can purchase the pasta attachments and perhaps the meat grinder. If you plan to buy the Cooking Chef for specialty cooking that requires an attachment, first make sure the attachment is available.
I had one major issue when I first received the Cooking Chef: I kept getting an error that the heat shield wasn't in place, even though it was. I called Kenwood (it's a DeLonghi company) to see what could be done. The customer service rep asked if he could place me on hold while he ran down to the lab to see what the technicians said. When he returned, he said he was going to send me a new heat shield that I would receive in five business days. I put that on the machine, and I've been off and running ever since. It turns out that the magnet/metal disk on the shield was not making proper contact with the sensor inside the machine. Customer service was prompt, courteous, and helpful -- everything I could have asked for. If it had not been for them, this machine would have gotten only two stars from me since the induction cooking was the feature I was most excited about. The mixer could have been the beast that it is -- and I would still have been deeply disappointed.
Here's a summary of the functions and their quality:
Mixer: Excellent, from egg whites to bread dough
Induction Cooker: Excellent
Steamer insert: Excellent
Food Processor: Excellent for its size. If you need a bigger work bowl, however, you won't be happy.
Blender: Average. Equivalent to a decent, inexpensive blender
Ease of Use: Excellent once you've learned the controls. There's a steep learning curve, but error messages and beeps alert you when you've done something wrong.
Clean-up: Excellent. Most, but not all, parts are dishwasher-safe. The Flexi-blades (for cooking) must be removed and cleaned immediately. The insides should be cleaned using the included bottle brush.
Price: Yikes. But if you want a high-end kitchen, you'll have to pay high-end prices.
I gave this machine five stars because I love, love, love it despite the meh blender. If you already have a blender and a food processor that you love, don't get this Kenwood unless you want the sheer mixing power and the induction cooking -- and don't care about the rest. And if you just want the mixer, look at Kenwood's stand-alones. If, however, you don't have those other appliances, this will give you everything you need, except for an ice crusher. I like the Kenwood much better than the KitchenAid, which I've found has deteriorated in quality in recent years. (I still regret giving up an old, lower wattage KitchenAid for the Artisan series.) This is a heavy-duty, large capacity, inventive machine for serious cooks. Note: I recevied this as part of the Amazon Vine program.

Also, there are lots of items that I can't find (or at a really high price) here in the USA and that I can make myself with this : patés, sausages (can't find merguez sausages here!), puff pastry, gougères, choux, etc. So, I'm going to use it a lot to make the "basic" ingredients that I need for my cooking.
I gave away my food processor, steamer, blender, yogurt maker after buying this. I still have my crockpot and breadmaker although I might give away this last one too. I saved a lot of space by giving those away but used the space immediately to store the accessories, blender bowl and processor bowl. What I mean is it does not take more space than all the appliances I had before. I use two plastic bins for the attachments and grating discs etc....stock them one above the other.
The inox pot that you use to cook and blend is great, it's a little heavy and so I let my husband clean it when time comes. It has a huge capacity and that's actually a little drawback for me since we're only two at home...so I usually make enough for 4 people and keep the rest for later. On the other hand, I'm not sure you can cook for more than 4 people in the steamer.
It takes some time to get used to it and use it and I would advise to search for videos online to help you. The video for the grinder for example, helped me tremendously to put the parts in the right position. I hate manuals, like most everybody!
