This knife is wonderful! I'm one of the last people to get something that looks this "girly," but there was something about it that appealed to me. It looks cute and innocent, with the pinkish rainbow sheen (mine has a lot more green and blue than the picture), but it's wicked sharp. Since it is spring-assist, it opens lightning quick and can be deployed instantly for opening boxes or what-have-you. I like carrying mine with the pocket clip, but it comes with a safety lock so you can carry it in your pocket without fear of having it accidentally open. Very essential for the times when I'm wearing dress pants and can't have a knife showing.

It is very small though. It is perfect for kids or someone like me who has very small hands. Though I do have problems opening the knife with the thumb stud. It's just small enough that my thumb will slide to intercept the edge of the blade. Fortunately, it has index-opening and with one flick of my index finger, I can open it.

I carry larger knives in my jeans pockets on a daily basis, but if you need something discreet and stylish, you can't go wrong with the Ken Onion Rainbow Chive. It certainly looks inconspicuous, but it's incredibly useful for many applications.

i paid about $50 for this rainbow chive and its ok for the money...overall seems like a decent knife but the coating makes it very slippery and the auto assist doesnt get the blade out all the way out...still have to manually push out....maybe it will loosen up. I bought the Spyderco cricket at the same time, paid $57 and its way more usable and feels better in the hand. I own a few other Kershaws and am glad I have this Chive in my collection but in terms of usability and value I think the rainbow one is more of a showpiece...the stainless probably has slightly better grip. It took me a long time to accept the notion of paying more than 10 bucks for a knife. This is a great deal, though. Very, very smooth opening and closing action, keeps an edge very well, and is shipped to you super sharp already. What I really like is the ability to keep it on you almost all the time since it is very small and light. You have to be careful opening and closing it the first few times though (read: don't buy this for your Cub Scout). Overall, definitely the best deal I've seen in this price range.

My sister saw this knife in one of my catalogs, and was mesmerized by its finish. I got it for her as part of a Christmas gift and she loved it. I would prefer a bit more grip on it, if it were mine. But she keeps it in her purse for emergencies and occasionally takes it out just to stare at it.

My fiancé loves this knife so much she isn't a knife person at all but wears it whenever she has pants on. Only problem is I have had to buy her 3 of them since the airport took one and misplaced second. I have multiple 1600s in all different colors and this one is buy far the coolest looking but wouldn't want to see a man bust this one out of his pocket! Good thing there are so many different colors and blades for this size. Think I have had most of them besides the gold plated one I just started seeing. I have almost bought it multiple times but I'm not a gold fan so haven't pulled the trigger. If I see it priced under $50 I may have to give it a shot!

my first Kershaw purchase was a Ken Onion Scallion - the rainbow finish. I bought this as a gift for my niece - I am considering dulling it a bit prior to giving it to her, it is razor sharp. I believe the photo in the description doesn't show how small this knife actually is. the speedsafe is impressive and springy, the finish is beautiful, the photos don't really do it justice, it's a mirror finish - which is both amazing and kind of not at the same time, fingerprints. this knife would be just as lovely in a satin finish handle with a mirror finish blade. no matter, I love it either way.

Kershaw makes a great blade and this is no exception. Pink so the girl friend will like it and actually carry it on her. I have carried a slightly larger version of this knife on me for years. Assisted action works smooth and crisp. Blade holds a decent edge with small knife every day uses. Feels sturdy, tight and made from quality materials.

Looked pretty, but bad in many ways.
"Safety" worked so great, that there was no way to get the knife open at all.
The safety didn't move far enough down to free the tip of the knife.
Knife blade not centered at all in handle.
Don't know that it matters, since the blade was so tightly wedged against the liner of the handle that it wouldn't move a fraction of a millimeter anyway. Pity since I bought it as a gift for my wife, and she was disappointed.
I ordered a new knife, but received an open box, and it was obvious that someone else had already tried to open the knife since when looking at it with a magnifying glass, there is a small mark on the tip of the blade where it's path is impinged by the safety.
