Product Description

Product Description

The Injection 3.0 is destined to become your new favorite pocketknife. It offers sleek good looks-from the tip of its classic drop-point blade to its 3D-machined G-10 handle. The Injection is a collaboration between custom knife maker Todd Rexford and Kershaw and we think the results are outstanding. Look for high-end custom details like decorative pivot hardware and machined thumb studs. The G-10 handle has incised cutouts on each side, letting you see through to the stainless steel liners. The G-10 is textured for a secure grip. Even the backspace offers a custom touch; it's chamfered (cut at an angle) on the back end. Another nice detail is the inset lanyard pin so nothing interrupts the smooth line of the knife. The 3-inch blade is the perfect size for so many day-to-day applications. Built of high-performance 8Cr13MoV, it comes razor-sharp and holds its edge well. The manual opening is smooth and easy. Once open, the blade is secured with a steel locking liner. The pocket clip is reversible for left- or right-handed carry. Manual: There is no mechanical assist, such as SpeedSafe, used to open the folding knife. Liner Lock: Locks the blade open during use; one side of the knife's steel "liner," the steel plate to which the handle scales are attached, moves into position behind the blade to securely lock it open. Reversible: Pre-drilled holes in the handle enable the user to change either the tip position or the side on which the knife carries.

I am a big Kershaw fan and I love the looks of this knife. This knife calls out to me for some reason and it feels solid in hand. The only problem I have with this knife is the bead-blast finish. This steel, 8cr13mov, is not the most rust resistant steel, and in combination with the bead-blast finish, the blade rusts easily. I had this in my pocket for exactly 1 day before it started rusting. Normally, for EDC, I don't have to have an oil coating on my blades, but this knife, it is required. While the finish does add to the knife's looks, it makes me not want to use it. If they had put stonewash finish or a coating on the blade, I would like this knife much better.

I love Kershaw blades.
Living in Chicago, i try to EDC knives on the smaller side that are inconspicuous, and prior to this blade i had been EDCing the Skyline for little over 2 years.

This blade is as close to EDC perfection as it gets. It addressed my main gripes with the skyline, moving the clip down the handle for better concealment and pocket retention, as well as incorporating a full flat grind into a $30 knife.

8crmov is just fine, it requires sharpening and maintenance but in this price range there is really no difference between steels.

The 3d machined g10 scales are grippy and insanely comfortable, the blade is wicked fast, came razor sharp and after a semester of heavy use on and off of job sites, this blade still locks up tight as a drum.

Subjectively i find the design to be incredibly aesthetic and definitely got admired the first few times I used it around coworkers.
Buy this knife, there is nothing better for small sized EDC blades.

This is a great little knife and may be one of the best office EDC folders. The fit, finish, blade centering, lock up and grind were perfect. The knife design is elegant and well carried out. The blade is an optimum size at three inches with a wide, useful edge. No, you can't carve up old truck tires but it does small tasks amazingly well. It's legal size most everywhere and manual opening. The blade itself has a flat grind with no swedging. It cuts anything and is a dream to re-sharpen. The blade steel holds an edge pretty well and also contributes to the ease of sharpening. The CNC'ed G-10 scales look cool, allowing the polished liners to show through, and provide good grip. The handle shape just works well in my large hands, surprising since it is a small knife with no jimping. I don't know about the bushings but this blade flicks open effortlessly and fast. People think it is assisted. There are nice details everywhere, the lanyard pin is tucked away where the backstrap is recessed into the handle (you have to see it but it is a neat design touch), the pivot is custom finished as are the thumbstuds. Which incidentally, are small but very accessible and user friendly. This knife just adds up to something special. With high end steel and a designer name you would see the knife retailing for over $100.00 At $25.00 you should own one.

Excellent quality as to be expected from kershaw. Very impressed with what you get for the price. The knife is definitely on the heavy side for the size. No open assist which was just what I was looking for. Blade centering was perfect. Not as sharp as I would like out of the box but not bad. Grip is a little on the slick side, no jumping to help. The only reason I'm not giving this knife 5 stars is because the lock up on the blade was unacceptable. It did not engage the blade far enough and could possibly lead to blade-lock failure, I don't want to lose any fingers! I'm sure this is just a defect with the one shipped to me. I sent the knife back(thanks to amazons excellent return/satisfaction policy) and will be looking for another knife.

.The Kershaw Injection came sharp out of the box with a centered blade and no blade play. The ffg blade cuts well and has kept its edge. The blade flicks out easily and closes with one hand using the liner lock, this is a manual opening knife. I would highly recommend this knife at its price point.

I own quite a few Kershaw knives. I am not an expert knife enthusiast but I do pay attention to detail, functionality, and most importantly performance. I will compare this to one of the Kershaw "Hall of Fame" EDC knives, the 1760 Skyline (confirmed purchase). If you aren't familiar with the knife, it's about twice as much as this one, USA made and uses an upgraded steel Sandvik 14C28N. I will also compare it to the slightly smaller Spyderco Persistence (confirmed purchase) which uses the same steel, which is about $12 more. There is a lot of knives we could compare them to, but I will go with what is my impressions right off hand compared to my EDC immediate rotation.

It would be easy to say "Well, you can't really compare it to a knife that's twice the cost." I'd argue that you can because when it comes down to an EDC you can depend on, the ceiling on price is what you make it. The knife will be by your side possibly longer than your girlfriend, your dog, and possibly your wife. So how does this little bugger stack up.

Deployment is very fast, faster than both the Spyderco and my Skyline as far as out-of-the box action. The thumb stud is well accessible without being intrusive in the pocket. The clip allows the knife (tip up) to sit deeper than the other two. The grip, though lower end, and I'd almost want to say it's faux G-10 because it's so smooth but has a really good shape, and the cutouts perform well for grip, and there's liners. The knife feels good in the hand overall. It however does not feel as good as the Skyline. The Skyline has a nicer blade, but with a shorter belly. Deployment takes a little bit longer to break in with the flipper design. Overall, fit and finish with the stonewash finish looks a lot nicer on the skyline.
