Funxion EMT with its emergency-ready features now in a lightweight version. The 8100 has all the features of the Funxion EMT-functions that can make all the difference in an emergency situation. But this Funxion EMT is in a lighter weight version thanks to a glass-filled nylon handle with non-slip K-Texture insert. Equipped with Speed Safe assisted opening, the blade opens quickly and is ready to help instantly. A quick pull back on the ambidextrous flipper or push on the thumb stud and it's ready for use, right now. The big, drop-point blade is ideal for taking on a wide variety of everyday and not-so-everyday cutting tasks. The 8Cr13MoV blade steel offers excellent wear resistance, toughness and edge retention. Separate locking liners for the blade and other tools ensure safety. The partially serrated blade can cut through webbing to free trapped accident victims. The cord cutter makes quick work of nylon cording. There's a hex bolt wrench and a screwdriver tip built into the cord cutter arm. A carbide glass breaker tip can help get you out of a tough situation. The Funxion EMT's handle is lightweight and sturdy. A non-slip K-Texture insert enhances a secure grip. The Funxion EMT comes with Kershaw's deep-carry clip for secure pocket carry-or clip it just about anywhere with the built-in carabineer. For additional safety, when the carabineer is out, the blade is locked closed.

The Pro's: It is a quality spring assisted knife. I liked it enough I bought some for my first responder friends to use on the job. It has a nice thick blade that when pushed from the rear springs open very quickly and locks into place. Fit is solid, no play. It has several features usually reserved for swiss army knifes, but manages to squeeze them in perfect fashion. It contains a locking combination bottle opener, cord cutter, flat head screwdriver, and oxygen wrench hex on one attachment and a locking spring loaded clip for hooking to a bag or belt loop on the other. The way they integrate the clip is awesome! It also contains a small glass breaking nub toward the top. I doubt it would do much on a windshield, but it will definitely take out a window easy enough. It also has a pocket clip to make it easy to reach. Finally, the aesthetics of this knife are very creative.
The Con: The pocket clip design is not the best. My Smith and Wesson and Gerber knives have better clips. I snag it on things all the time. The clip on mine bent really badly and when I tried to bend it back it broke. I felt it was mostly my fault, so I tried to contact Kershaw via email and had no response. I was not happy, as I offered to pay for a new one if they would simply sell one to me.
Then out of the blue about 5 weeks later I got a small pouch from Kershaw. Inside was a new clip! That definitely made me happy again and restored my faith in this company. Still, a reply would have been nice.
Overall, I recommend highly. I rate 4.5 stars. The clip is touchy, but not enough to make me regret buying this. I will warn folks to be careful as this knife has a powerful spring. Bumping it just right can deploy the blade. Also, the end of the clip and steering wheels, consoles, and furniture don't get along. Be aware when you have this clipped in your pockets.
The seatbelt cutter has been tested extensively as well, cutting through 6 layers of USB cable at once. It didn't go through in one swipe like it would with 2 or 3, but with a little bit of wiggling, you could just about get through it. That is very impressive considering the limited real estate you're given by the cutter.
On top of that, the glass breaker works very effectively as well. With light pressure, you can carve out some letters on a glass bottle with ease. One good hit at the curved part of a wine bottle and it will cleanly break into two every time.
The screwdriver bit works decent and can be applied to tasks other than just a screwdriver, for example, opening the battery compartment of a wireless Apple Keyboard or Trackpad. You Apple users know how difficult this can be unless you have a quarter at hand. Opening beer bottles will always be easy from now on as well using the other portion of the pull-out tool.
I've not used every component of this knife in real world use, simply because it can do so much, but everything's been good so far. I'll update my review, need be, if anything else is tested or if I have problems in the future.
