Each of us carries a distinct identity captured by our fingerprints. With a tactical black-grey unassuming look, grip the Identity’s fingerprinted handle and begin marking your own imprint. For use as a deep carry easy to conceal, the jimping along the back of the blade, ambidextrous flipper and reversible clip allow any and all hand sizes, left and right, a firm reliable grip. At a hefty 6.5 oz. and boasting a 3.5 in. blade, the ease of use and grip make it not too big, while the tactical nature of its design for this close quarter combat survival tool is not too small either. The wear resistant 8Cr13MOV blade steel demonstrates a proven ability to take and hold an edge. With more carbon for enhanced durability, it won’t break, stays sharp, doesn’t wear and won’t rust. Whether for self-defense, camping, manual labor, boating or hunting, buy the Kershaw Identity and forge yours by using it hard for all your beach, lake, river, garage, office, garden and outdoors needs.

Bottom line, the other reviewers are right in giving the Identity a one or maybe a two star rating when it comes to the ease of opening and closing. As far as the weight, it is a little heavier and larger than my Kershaw "Clash", but that is to be expected because it is a bigger knife. As far as size and weight I give it 5 Stars, but as far as opening and closing, I wouldn't give it one star. I just hope that with use (it looks and feels sturdy) the mechanism will loosen up. If not, I'm going back to using my Clash for everyday use.
As far as recommending the Kershaw "Identity" knife, I would NOT. However, if you are looking for a good pocket knife that works perfectly right out of the box, get the KERSHAW "CLASH".
The blade is solid and sharp and it feels good as a whole in my larger hands. The clip is small and short allowing it to hang on the inside or outside of my belt easily.
However to open the blade it requires both hands most times. The quick finger open on the back of the blade is useless. Its not very easy to open quickly. It is very difficult to close as well. The safety for the blade also requires two hands to release. Sometimes I feel like I may slice my hand/finger trying to close it. Wearing gloves would help protect my hands but would make it three times as hard to release the safety. Ill use it for small tasks at work but definitly not an everyday carry knife.
