5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing little knife
By P. C. Burger on November 30, 2016
Amazing little knife. And for those of you who complained about the size, can you not read a ruler? It's small...by design. See the attached picture for scale/reference. The blade length (under 2 inches) means it's legal to carry in places where a larger blade wouldn't be allowed. Which is exactly why I bought it. I've owned Kershaw's Leek model for years and it's performed incredibly. This little guy was super sharp out of the box and like the Leek will stay sharp for a long time before needing to be touched up. Kershaw's Speedsafe opening mechanism is pure magic. As fast as automatic knives (but legal everywhere). Can't recommend this knife enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars ch-ch-ch-Chive!
By Solo Nur Ali on August 3, 2016
This miniature beauty is an awesome little folder. The flipper is the easiest method to deploy the blade, but the thumb stud is pretty damn smooth, too!

I don't use the pocket clip because I'm in a wheelchair, so trying to pull out the knife from my pocket while seated is an exercise I'd rather skip. So, for me, the pocket clip is removed...on this knife and all my other folders. On the seat cushion of my wheelchair is a small pouch - usually for small tools in case of wheelchair mishaps. I use this pouch for my Chive, so accessing it is quick and simple. In fact, I have 3 manual wheelchairs (all for different activities), and I have Chives in each of them!

My primary uses are for opening letters, Amazon boxes, and those pesky plastic clam shells most toys come in. I have twin 8-year-old boys, so opening new toys for them is almost a daily task. The Chive has yet to fail me in any of the tasks aforementioned. And for the size, I'm really impressed with what it can do!

The styling and finish are fantastic. The knife is perfectly centered, and the one's I've purchased didn't have any noticeable flaws, scratches, etc. It's visually very stunning. In fact, if you compare the Kershaw Chive to a Spyderco Stainless Steel Bug (similar in size), you'll quickly see how superior the Kershaw is to Spyderco...in function and esthetics.

I work as an engineer, and one of my Chives is almost always somewhere on my work table. Every other engineer that takes a glance at this miniature beauty has ended up buying one for themselves. I've gifted more of this knife to associates and executives than any other item...and they're always well received.

So much careful engineering and design has been put into this knife, and it shows every time I use it. I highly recommend this little knife for simple EDC tasks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Small but very useful
By Rabanks 33 outdoors on May 28, 2019
They say the best knife is the one you have on you. Well, this little guy is ALWAYS on me. I should probably make it clear that I was a Spyderco dragonfly guy for the longest time but this knife is so compact and useful I always come back to it. I have been carrying it for a little over 8 months and it has fulfilled my EDC needs perfectly. I usually pair it with my skyline, rat 1, or Kershaw blur and find that when something needs cut this knife will do the job. I have used it for light whittling, opening packages, cutting zip ties, peeling fruit and many other tasks! I took the torsion bar out and it still works beautifully!

Pros: compact and useful with a lanyard hole that will fit 550 paracord. Sheeple friendly while also being capable to do what you need to do. Really impressed by the solid lock and build. It may be small but it certainly does not fee cheap!

Cons: 420 is not my favorite steel but it is adequate. If Kershaw were to improve the steel I would buy another in a heartbeat.

Bottom line: an excellent small edc knife that won’t get you in trouble but still highly capable!
