A Cut Above the Rest
Dominating the everyday carry, folding pocket knife market, Kershaw creates high-quality, high-performance, exceptional, working tools and knives affordable to all consumers. Kershaw always chooses appropriate, top notch materials and is dedicated to intensive craftsmanship of hardworking pocketknives, hunting knives, or special collectors’ editions. Kershaw’s advanced technology and innovative design combine to create solid, crafted, reliable knives users are proud to carry.
Kershaw Cryo Knives
A Rick Hinderer knife, the Cryo series of knives are results of a collaboration between Hinderer and the designers of Kershaw. Skillfully crafted and beautifully designed, the Cryo is built of pure stainless steel coated in titanium carbo-nitride for a no-fuss, no frills, sleek knife. The Cryo is designed with EMTs, police officers and first responders in mind. A sturdy knife that is aesthetically pleasing and feels great in the hand, the Cryo offers users a secure blade lockup using a tough frame lock and SpeedSafe Assisted Opening accessed using either a flipper or thumbstud.
Signature to a classic Hinderer design, Rick Hinderer uses a lockbar stabilizer in many of his designs. Hinderer claims fame over his Hinderer-style filler tabs among many other award-winning technologies and collaborations in Kershaw’s knife lines. Famous for the Kershaw Cryo, Hinderer designs unique and powerful knives built tough and built to last.
A budget friendly, reliable, top-of-the-line Chinese produced steel, 8Cr13MoV steel has carbon and slightly less nickel for hardness and edge retention. Kershaw’s precision heat treated 8Cr13MoV steel strongly takes and holds an edge and offers wear resistance that can withstand damage from both abrasive and adhesive wear. 8Cr13MoV is a value blade steel featuring high performing characteristics.
Attractive Blade Finish
Kershaw’s patented Blackwash finish derives from a balanced blend of blade coating and stonewashing. Together the two produce a precisely formulated all-black matte finish impervious to fingerprints, smudges and marring. And, even though the knife itself is brand new, Blackwash projects a well-worn, vintage look popular for blending comfortably with clothes and gear during everyday use and carry.
Using a torsion bar to move the blade out of the handle, Kershaw’s revolutionary SpeedSafe Assisted Opening system enables smooth, secure, fast one-handed blade deployment. Apply manual pressure to the flipper or thumb stud with a light push or pull back to overcome resistance of the torsion bar, and the blade opens smoothly and locks into place for confident handling without premature closure.
Secure Locking System
Kershaw’s frame lock design makes knives safer, securer, sturdier and quicker for one-handed blade deployment. The knife handle, or frame, has two metal plates on either side of the blade, and when open, the lockbar butts up against the blade’s backend to prevent blade closure. To close the knife blade, push the frame to the side to unlock the blade and fold the blade back into the handle.
Knives with SpeedSafe open have two options for one-handed blade deployment. To activate the smooth, instant open, user can push a thumbstud or press a flipper. The flipper on SpeedSafe assisted knives is easy to operate by both left- and right-handed users. And, once blade swings open and locks into place, flipper either disappears for aesthetics or remains visible for added finger protection.
Stainless steel contains chromium to equip knife handles to withstand rusting and provide corrosion resistance. Stainless steel offers durability and is often used in combination with another material to make for an easier grip. Offering excellent durability, stainless steel knife handles often incorporate etching, patterns, ridges or lines for a less slippery grip.
Kershaw designs pocketclips to fit specific knives according to their weight, intended end use, size, style and hardware. Some knives have multiple carry options, others are more streamlined. The 4-position pocketclip allows tip-up or tip-down carry on both the right and left sides, providing users the most versatility. Proper use of the pocketclip promotes safety and efficiency while using knife.

This Kershaw 155TI Cryo SpeedSafe Folding knife is a fantastic knife. It comes very sharp but I have had it long enough that I have had to sharpen it and it holds the sharp edge fairly well. It is appropriately sized to conceal or carry in your pocket, whatever verbiage you want to use, in the state I live in. I suggest you check your local laws if you are unsure. It will prevent you from going to jail and that is a great thing.
I have several knives and I carry this Kershaw knife every day. This Kershaw Cryo knife fits in my pocket well and doesn't drag my pocket down much. There is a nice clip that holds it to your pocket if you want to carry it that way. It opens with one hand easily and is able to be closed one handed if you are careful. It has a locking frame which holds the blade very stable for use. I love this particular knife.
The finish is nice and hasn't worn at all in the 2 years I have owned it. Well worth the price you pay for it. I have seen many other knives in this price range and they are not normally of this high a quality.
I have read that this is a Chinese manufactured blade, although I am not sure. Supposedly the US manufactured blades are superior strength and quality but I have to tell you I cannot imagine it is significantly better for the average persons’ usage.

I originally gave the Cryo a low rating because of the difficulty using the famous Kershaw speedsafe assisted opening (the flipper). Unlike my Kershaw Leek that smoothly and easily flips open, the Cryo took considerable pressure and was painful to my index finger. I assume it was just not made to proper specifications so returned it for a replacement. The replacement works much better.
The industrial strength and size of the Cryo is just what I was looking for in a weekend use knife. I particularly like that it does not stick out of my jeans pocket when clipped in place.
This has to be counterfeit, or Kershaw has seriously laxed their quality standards.
The first thing you will notice is the weight. It is heavier than you would expect for its size. It does look different with the G10 scales on one side and the stainless on the other which is part of the appeal for this particular model. I like that the knife clips into the pocket easier since the clip is on the stainless side. I don't expect it to cause any major wear and tear on your jeans unlike something like the Benchmade Griptillian which will eventually shred your pocket since the clip is right over the scales.
I'm only giving it 3 stars because it is extremely difficult to open with the thumbstud. It takes a lot of force to open and you have to ride the blade all the way otherwise it will stall before it locks up. Please note that opening is not a problem with the flipper. I've tried to loosen the pivot and I have even taken the knife apart to clean and relube. All these helped a little, but it still takes way too much effort to open. I'm quite spoiled with my Blur so I know how a SpeedSafe knife should open. I have to apply so much force that I've gotten close to slicing my thumb open. That experience does not inspire confidence. After 6 months of ownership, I rarely use this knife and have gone back to using the Leek.
In summary, if you primarily use the flipper to open a knife, this is a good buy for the price. (You can in fact consider this a 4.5 star review.) If you prefer using the thumbstud, I would recommend something else.

Will buy again 10/10
I used the knife randomly ... maybe 2-3 times a week. If anyone knows how to fix it, write me a comment.
no comment needed anymore ... I send a request to KERSHAW for a replacement torsion bar and there a many videos about this on youtube (keywords: kershaw cyro repair).
sadly I got no answer from kershaw for my request for a replacement (torsion bar), neither via mail or email ... so never again a kershaw for me ... bad customer support
Alles in allem Kaufempfehlung!
(Lt. Logo habe ich eine ältere Version. Zur Neuen kann ich leider wenig beitragen.)
