About Kevin D. Parish
Kevin D Parish was born in Fairhope, Alabama in 1962. He grew up on Mobile Bay and the sugar-white sand beaches of Gulf Shores, Alabama. Kevin has a deep passion for fishing, especially in saltwater. His grandfather made a living fishing and writing. This is the source of Kevin's latent talents and love of poetry. A surreal dream visited Kevin one night, and since that time his walk in faith has become even stronger. It only made sense to Kevin to trust God and put himself into the world of writing with his first book of poetry based on faith.

Blog postWhen the glamour faded
So did he
One moment there
The next – absentee
Why does this happen
All of the time
Will I ever find love
As myself – divine
Creating illusions
To capture the eye
Only to lose
Walk away and cry
Life isn’t fair
My mother always said
Yet I still find myself
Alone in this bed
But, maybe tomorrow
I’ll not wear the mask

Blog postHappy, happy everyday
Minnie helps me find my grace
Goofy, he’s a silly one
Loping ’round and having fun

His voice is strange
My bill a scowl

Solving riddles
With tools he knows
But, you all know this house of play
The name is, Mickey

Blog postBe who you are
The power is inside
Reach for the stars
Have faith and not pride
Give voice to the voice
That resides in your heart
The words that you say
Can mend a soul torn apart
Speak kindness and love
And lead the right way
Smile and laugh often
Everyday
Time will soon come
And your ship will sail
Stay true in your faith
Live inside the pale

Blog postIf I fall, I know the kiss of a thousand angel’s wings will catch me and set me upon the solid ground with a reassurance that can only come from God. If I lose a friend, my heart may break, but time will heal the heart and soul as our paths have been forever laid out before us in the book of life. We may not know what is written on those pages until we have ventured beyond them, but if we have faith in God, then it really doesn’t matter. Have faith and be well my friends!

Blog postOh, wistful wind
How you tease me so
Gentle as the summer breeze
You cause dancing of the snow
Twisted and destructive
Typhoons and cyclones too
Heartbreak you leave in your path
To settle in the gloom
You can ease the heat of August
Or crash the waves of the seas
Dry the tears from a baby’s eyes
Blowing as you please
A love or hate relationship
Mother Nature’s deadly wrath

Gaseous swamp
And frost of hoar
Gelatinous moss

With hellfire’s heat
Now blades of grass
Thou must eat
Deliciousness
None can compare

Blog postSubservient threads tighten around the ilk of my shadowed memories
Where darkness embraces silence like a lover
And I lay suffering – floundering in foul dreams
My soundless cries echo
While I walk alone with spectres
Who take pleasure as they caress my very soul

Blog postHello my wonderful, talented WordPress family!
As I have continued my struggle to write on any kind of regular basis I had a thought… Start a contest! I will post a couple of my abstract paintings and see what kind of response I get with micro-fiction or poetry using one of the paintings below as the subject.
As an added bonus I will give away each painting to the winner that I and my small team choose. (Any ideas or volunteers to help judge would be great. You would obviously1 month ago Read more -
Blog postHello my sweet and precious WordPress family peeps!
I hope you are all happy, safe, healthy and doing well!
I am contemplating placing some of my paintings out here to see what kind of microfiction stories or poetry they might glean…
I dabble in abstract acrylic pourings, and I am always fascinated by the interpretations of what people see in these paintings.
So, with that in mind, and in lieu of my muse making me wait like a good, innocent, loving couple for t2 months ago Read more -
Blog postMuse, oh muse
Where have you gone?
You’ve taken my poetry,
and you’ve taken my song.
We use to be close
In love every day
But in the blink of an eye
You just went away.
I hope that you come back
To me with a smile.
And say, “Hello baby!
It’s been quite a while!”
And I hope you bring with you
Poetry of love
Of humor and drama
And inspiration from above.
