I really should just make this review short and sweet and say, Kevlar To My Vest is hilarious, sweet, and will make you believe that heroes are not only 2 legged but 4 legged as well, but if that was all I wrote you wouldn’t have any idea why I once again loved a book in this series.

This time we have Trance and Viddy. Trance is a K-9 officer, hence the 4 legged hero comment above, who has wanted Viddy since he first rescues her on the side of the road in the previous book. Viddy is blind, but that doesn’t stop her from being a spitfire hell on wheels and Trance is hooked. Trance is a bad ass K-9 officer, who also has a heart of gold. He needs Viddy in his life, because while she worries about him and his job, she doesn’t nag him about it either.

Viddy may be blind, but that doesn’t stop her, nope, not one bit. She is independent as they come and doesn’t want anyone to make a big deal about her loss of vision. She also has wanted Trance but didn’t think he would want someone like her, but once both of their eyes are opened, you can feel the love that these two have for each other. I didn’t have to worry about a weak heroine with her, nope even when she does have a breakdown she is anything but weak.

Now I should probably state this because while I laughed so hard about Trance’s fear of flying that I woke up my 15 month old son, that unless I explained why it was so hilarious to me, you would probably think I am insane. My husband when he was in the Air Force (Trance was too), he was Security Forces (same as Trance), and was terrified to fly (just like Trance), I just kept picturing this certain scene in my head and even now I am giggling because I swear she based that off of my husband.

Kevlar to My Vest (Heroes of The Dixie Wardens MC #3)
By: Lani Lynn Vale
5/5 stars

This is Viddy Sheffield & Trance’s story. Viddy is the twin sister of Adeline, the heroine in book 2, Halligan to My Axe. Trance is the K-9 officer for the town of Benton along with his German Shepard dogs, Radar & Kosher. Trance is also a member of the Dixie Wardens MC.

Viddy has been dating an insensitive, self-absorbed, rude doctor who I’ve hated since his character was introduced (also in book 2). But after he’s a complete a-hole, she dumps him. She likes Trance and they are really good friends but she figures that it won’t be going any further because he wouldn’t want a “poor blind girl.”

Trance has liked and wanted to be with Viddy since the first time he ever saw her. But she has never given him the indication that she wanted anything more than just a platonic friendship. He doesn’t want to make a move, just to be rejected, even though he wants nothing more than for Viddy to be his in every way that she can be.

Viddy has also been regaining some of her vision, just a little bit, but when she’s under stress, her vision diminishes greatly. But her world is starting to open up, just like she does to Trance and he does to her. Once that happens they are just the sweetest with each other.

I love when Trance’s blood brothers, Foster and Miller come to visit. They are a lot of fun, they’re funny and extremely loyal, not only to Trance, but also towards Viddy. We also saw Viddy’s sister Adeline & her hubby, Kettle and then the birth of their daughter Saylor.

This book focused more on Trance’s life as a K-9 officer and Viddy as a special education teacher rather than the MC life and the club itself.

I wasn't sure it would get any better, but I was wrong. This is the third in the series, stand alone books but must reads. This starts off with Viddie, a blind woman who meets Trance, another member of the Dixie Wardens MC. He's also a cop and K-9 handler. Viddie is the twin to Adeline and these two girls have the most amazing relationship you've ever seen. Viddie is blind from an accident that she and Adeline were in when they crashed their father's Harley as teenagers. Viddie manages amazingly well in spite of being blind. She does have occasional flickers of vision, but not enough. Trance, as he's known because if you stare at his eyes you go into a trance, is all alpha, bad ass and soft heart. He can't stand the man that Viddie is dating. He and Viddie have a stand off romance going on, they just don't realize it yet. So many things bring them together, they learn to overcome her disability together in the sweetest way imaginable. The funniest part to me in this whole book is that tats that were gotten in Vegas. Read it to see what they say, and read it prepared to spit your drink out when you read what Viddie worries hers might say. Again Lani Lynn Vale does such an amazing job of making you fall in love with this man and woman, the extended family of the Dixie Wardens, and in this book, the K-9 dogs that serve so willingly. Great job Lani, please don't stop writing.

Overall Rating: 4.5 Rockin’ ★★★★☆

The heart sees what the eyes cannot…blindness is not necessarily sight!

As a teenager, Viddy and her sister were in a freak motorcycle accident that left her blind. Now years later she is a respected teacher and lives independently with the help of her Seeing Eye dog, Hemi. Viddy is surrounded by family and friends that love and support her while giving her the freedom she needs. Something is happening with her vision lately and she needs to have it checked. When her ex becomes a problem, Officer Trance Spurlock saves the day. He is not only her friend but also a man that she is interested. Trance is always there when she needs him and is extremely protective where she is concerned. Is it possible that he feels the same interest that she does?

Trance is a member of the Dixie Wardens MC and also a K-9 Officer for the Benton Police Force. When Trance hears the call for assistance at Viddy’s home, he immediately responds. What he finds turns his blood cold. Viddy’s ex standing naked over her bed and smelling her panties. She had hidden under her bed when she heard him climb in through her kitchen window and called for help. Now he knew that she was his and he would do whatever was needed to keep her safe. All he had to do now was convince Viddy and put his past behind him.
Is it possible to forget past betrayals? Will Viddy be able to accept him, his job, his club and the dangers that come with being with him? Read the book to find out!
