Cons:
- I was expecting to be able to use this lock system with home automation. Initially, it worked fine with 3rd party apps, but then Kevo changed to disallow these.
- IFTTT integration gives very limited information (trigger on app-based lock/unlock not when you use a key or the inside knob) and doesn't allow for locking.
- iOS app was impossible to use with touchID protection.
- iOS app gives no confidence of security without touchID enabled. Instructions say not to keep your phone inside and near the door so that someone outside can unlock the door. Yikes!
- The apps don't allow you to log in on multiple devices with the same account. I'd rather have one account for my wife and me, but I can't. This is true across iOS and Android apps, so I can't even use my own login on my iPhone and my Pixel phone.
- Android app leaves a persistent notification up that the app is running forever.
- Unlocking with the phone via bluetooth is hit or miss. I usually have to open up the app (or just grab my keys).
I was thinking of giving 2 stars until I got all that off my chest, and now I'm down to 1 star. I spent over $1000 on locks for the house. If they created an open API that let me know the current state of the lock regardless of what method was used to change it (key, app, bluetooth,...) and the ability to lock (I don't personally care to unlock via the API), I'd change my tune.
Pros:
+ Access outside the home WiFi has worked well using the app.
+ Setup wasn't hard.
