The story starts in the 5th centuary BC. with the Persian kings Cyrus and Darius who invaded India then Alexander the Great,Genghis Khan, the White Huns,Russians and British etc.right up to the vpresent day.
But not everything went from north to south for example Buddhaism conquered China from India and the fateful attack on Afghanistan by the British in 1840 was from the south.
An excellent book but with terrible maps.
