Kicker has powered my car's stereo system for years with crisp highs and rich, resonant bass. With such a reputation for quality, it's little surprise that the HP541 Kicker headphones do everything they can to live up to the name. And after a few weeks with these headphones, I'd say they succeeded.

First off, the drawbacks. These headphones are large and somewhat heavy, so if you're looking for something to jog with, I'd honestly recommend something a bit lighter. They are a very snug fit, so if you don't like closed environment headphones, you probably won't dig these.

Onto the pluses, of which there are many. The headband is very comfortable to wear, even for extended durations. Audio quality is rich and sweet, pumping out appropriately crisp highs, rich middles, and booming lows. The bass response is surprisingly tight, which I first thought an issue, until I played a few games with them on. Every explosion was crisp and real, present without being distracting. The single connector is a pleasing change of pace for someone who has always used in-ear buds, and the two cables provided are of excellent quality, as well as the larger jack adapter. Bringing it all together is a handy carrying bag for everything. Noise cancelling is present without being overt. I use these primarily with a 30 GB Zune, and all it takes to remove nearby conversation and road noise is to send the volume up from 11 to 13(out of 20). Swivel cups make them an excellent companion for the discerning DJ or studio monitor, and the overall construction is sturdy and durable.

Ultimately, these are audiophile headphones without the audiophile price, and a welcome departure from my previous headphones, ranging from Sony monitor headphones to several varieties of Skullcandy. Even after sampling the impressive fidelity of Bose circumaural headphones, these still reign supreme.

Very versatile headphones for the price. The structure as a whole is rather sturdy, solid plastic construction, the adjustments click into place, both cans swivel rather generously, the cans themselves are slightly tilted toward the back of your head rather than most conventional cans(straight up and down)...in which I have come to find that this style fits perfectly with the contours of our head. The comfort level of these headphones are 4 out of 5 stars, the padding is durable and will last for years, ears do get warm after a couple hours of use, but that's a common factor that you know you're getting into when you look into buying over the ear cans. Onto the sound...I am an audiophile and I want to hear everything down to the core of every recording...that's why these are getting 4 out of 5 stars on sound. These cans are pretty amazing at what it has to offer, deep rich punchy bass, not the kind of bass that sounds like 2- 15 inch subs in the trunk of a 75 caprice classic. The bass isn't overwhelming or harsh, it is very clean and pure. The mids' are thorough and vocals shine, acoustic guitar sounds fresh and prominent, the crunch of Soilwork's guitar makes your ears scream for more and the delicate yet powerful voice of J. Loren of Hurt brings you to your knees. The highs are crisp and clear, more like a warm violin at its peak. There are tons of positive things I could say about these headphones, like all the above, and 2 interchangeable cables (3ft. and 11ft.), soft carrying bag, and an 1/8-Inch to 1/4-Inch gold plated adapter! Okay-those were the pros and now on with the cons...which are few. If you have LARGE EARS, the padding might sit on your ears, I have smaller ears and mine fit perfectly.Read more ›

These Kicker headphones are great! But why spend more when you can get them for less? The Monoprice 8223 is the exact same headphone as this one and you can get it direct from monoprice.com or from amazon for at least $15 cheaper than this headphone! The headphone from monoprice lacks the side decals, otherwise they are exactly the same. How do I know? Because I own both pairs and have dis assembled both headphones.

Most of you are searching through all the different brands, and reading review after review. Stop looking and reading reviews!! If you are a DJ, or just a normal person that likes perfect sound than this is your product. I previously owned Allen & Heath Xone XD-53 headphones, they were amazing! but the speaker sticks out and puts pressure on the cartilage of your ears which is very uncomfortable, and quite painfully annoying, but yes the sound quality is superb. Unfortunately for Allen & Heath, these Kicker HP541 headphones, are light, comfortable, and sound even better than Allen & Heath, PLUS they are 50 US DOLLARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Allen & Heath Xone XD-53 headphones cost $200 more or less. The Kicker HP541 should cost 400 dollars, the bass, mids, and high are flawless with absolutely NO DISTORTION. I highly recommend buying a Fiio E5, or E6 headphone amplifier, just for some lower lows, and higher highs, and much more volume. These are priced at 129.99 on kickers website, so I highly recommend taking advantage of this great deal. I am also a car audio fanatic, and can tell you that kicker makes much better products than pioneer, sony, panasonic, kenwood, and all of these brands. As for BEATS by Dr. Dre they sound decent, but get a 5 out of 10, while these Kicker HP541's easily get a 10 out of 10, some people say they are built cheap, that is a false assumption, The material is made of an extremely strong thick plastic. They do everything most DJ headphones do such as turn, fold, etc, and the cord detaches from the headphones, and this product even comes with 2 different cords 1 is normal size for use with mp3 players, etc. The other is atleast 5 FEET long and is a much thicker cord which gives the 50mm drivers even more power. Dont waste your money on headphones unworthy of the price. Place your order on your ears new best friend!!!! ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!! I RATE THIS PRODUCT INFINITE POSITIVENESS, BUT AM LIMITED TO 5 OUT OF 5.
