Instead of getting each season in its own thin pack case, a large plastic case with plastic leaflets holding the discs, or even a case with spindles that hold a couple discs on each one; we get several pieces of cardboard that sleeve a disc on each side. This is really really unacceptable. Not only is it a pain to locate a disc to watch, the flimsy piece of paper at the top of the chipboard box is easily lost and will eventually let a lot of dust settle in the bottom of the box. I cannot believe in 2018 a company is seriously putting this kind of packaging out there. It totally soured any happiness I had in getting this set when the physical presentation is a large part in owning physical media.
Mill Creek put so much work into the content of the discs that they phoned in the packaging so hard that it will make me think twice about my future purchases from them.
I owned the original single season sets of the KITH. Enjoyed them since they first aired back in the day. My main reason for purchasing this set was to get "Death Comes To Town" and have more shelf space. This set takes up slightly more space than one of the original season sets.
In those original sets the episodes were broken up over 4 disks instead of the two per season in this iteration.
The disks are housed in double sided cardboard holders that are actually quite sturdy and the disks (so far) slide out easily.
Good quality for the video and audio I've tried so far.
There are only three complaints and only two of them are real.
The 1st (unreal) complaint is that "Brain Candy" isn't included. I know that is due to a different company owning the film and so having one box with everything in it will likely never happen.
The 2nd complaint is that once you open the packaging you realize there is no top to the box. There is a flimsy red cardboard piece that covers the top but having the top open to the elements to allow dust etc. in seems like a major oversight by Mill Creek. I'll use the cardboard piece to protect the set but it is the only set I own that is like that.
The 3rd complaint is about the digital "copies." This has become a standard thing for most releases these days. The problem comes from the fact if you want to watch the digital you have to create an account with Mill Creek Entertainment. With the large number of pre-existing streaming services (Netflix, Hulu, Ultraviolet, etc. it is frustrating to have to add another account to the long list of places I go to watch the things I "own."
Why Mill Creek didn't partner with someone else to do this I have no idea.
Overall, I'm happy with the purchase and got it delivered the first day it was available so Amazon did their part well.
