GIVE YOUR KIDS A TRAVEL ADVENTURE — WHILE STAYING SAFE AT HOME.
The pandemic may have limited our ability to travel and introduce our kids to new places and cultures, but it has proved that we all live in a global village. I like the information about England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland but I think perhaps a bit more detail could be gone into and some of the statements about "the troubles" in Ireland should be made clearer (better explanation about what they were fighting about) or just left out. There is a lot more to say about Ireland without getting into the "troubles".
This book is wonderfully packed full of activities for the children which has really helped to engage them with the material in the book. I like the section on some of the English idiom's that we use. Sometimes I forget that other people might not know what us Brits might mean when we use them. I once asked a Dutch lady to give me a "ball park figure" of the cost of renting a car in Jordan and she was really confused and wondered what ball park I meant and what that had to do with renting a car. : D. Anyway, in short me and the children are thoroughly enjoying the book and look forward to filling the back pages with some of our own pictures of London after the trip.
Really though you have to include the Science Museum in one of the best children's museums! I used to call that museum "the button museum" because it was so engaging. Especially the floor which is full of practical hands on experiments and activities for the children to get stuck into! I am very un-scientific and the museum was great fun to me.
I am happy that there is a section about the various parks in London. One of my favourite things to do is have a picnic in a park there. Especially in summer.
In short I think the book is an excellent buy for anyone planning a trip to London with their children to help them engage with the place, history and people.
