For me, travel, and knowledge of other countries is very important. Now, this book is way ahead of my 8 month old, but we already have a nice library going for him and I absolutely needed this in there. I think by the time he's able to understand this book we should be able to find some time to make that trip so that I can show him in person these amazing things he's read about in his book!
This book series is really incredible. I've seen quite a few countries offered on here and I think it's a great way to get kids involved, not only in travel, but also in learning and history! It's especially exciting if they can come home and say this is the (insert monument) that's been there since (insert time) and I actually got to touch it and take pictures with it!
Realistically I will probably buy them all just to help give him and idea of other countries and their cultures. I don't want him to be stuck in his American bubble.
The book is really well done for kids... and honestly, for some slightly older folks. There isn't a huge market for tour guide books for kids and this one is absolutely amazing. it focuses on making tourism fun for kids, using pictures and stories. Plus I think kids feel like they are included in travel decisions more often when they have their own book of attractions that they may want to see!--Jacquelin Sainte, Oct 5 2016
FUN FUN FUN......Only one page is dedicated to the parents. This page explains how this book can help get the kids motivated to check out the sights of the city, take a tour, visit a museum. There are various fun things to do in the book that keep the kids active in trying to fill out the entire book while on their trip.
Fun things in the book:
- word search puzzles
- fill in the blank questions
- to do lists to check off what you have done at various places in the city
- short quizzes
- "Did you know?" information throughout
- Short Q & A with the kids at various places throughout (ex.: Did you walk or drive over the Brooklyn Bridge)
- Fast Facts
This kids travel guide to London is a travel guide and scrapbook keepsake. In it, kids describe the planned trip in a fill-in style journal that asks about the journey and has room for a picture of the family too. It contains a packing list for kids that includes entertainment options such as a book or writing pad and crayons or markers or such, and even includes things Mom might forget, like a raincoat.
In the following pages, it informs about London and asks questions about the traveler s home country and capital too. It covers London s very long history, some highlights for kids oldest toy store, zoos, theme parks, etc. It also talks about travel to and from London as well as the ways many people travel in London. Then, of course, it also discusses attractions for the whole family, like the castles, churches, shopping and typical tourist stops.
It has quizzes, word searches and scavenger hunts (checklists where you check off the item after you have seen it) and the final pages have a lot of space to summarize the trip and record the dates and what activities you did and the places you visited each day. It also has spaces for pictures. If this is thoroughly filled in, it will be a great keepsake to remember the trip.--Sarah Summers, August 20, 2016
