This is a cute kids journal. Definitely for younger writers. Gives plenty of prompts for daily writing. Bought as a gift for my 9 year old nephew for a train trip he's taking with his grandma this summer. Hoping the prompts will encourage him to write even basic notes about his trip. Really only works for one trip but if he likes it I'd happily get more for future trips.

We are going on a 3 week trip out of the US and had a hard time finding a journal that had enough pages to last the entire trip for our 8 year old. This one has 80+ daily journal entries, each page is a day, and has three writing prompts which are the same for every day. Since we are not going to be gone for 3 months we are going to use three pages a day, and allow for some photos to be added as well. Overall we are pleased with a larger journal, and one that is not designed just for USA travel. This would be good for ages 8+ since it involves more independent writing than just coloring and one word answers.

This is a great kid's journal, lots of open ended questions and blank pages at the end to put to whatever purpose you have in mind. It has many more daily entry pages than we really need - 86 pages total. I wish some of them were left open for drawing in each daily entry, but we can always use the facing page to draw, in spite of the lines. It has enough blank pages at the end that I'm going to use it as our autograph book as well when we go to Disney during our trip.

It was very hard to find a travel journal for my 9 year old to use before leaving on our trip to Europe! It was her first time going to Europe and I had made a journal many years ago for her sister. This one is similar to the one I bought 10 years ago and was very pleased. My only complaint would be that there are too many pages to write in, even for a 3 week trip like ours.
Though I would definately recommend it; helps to remember the trip and to keep up their writing skills! It is always fun to look back and read from the perspective of a 9 yr old.

The quality of the book (cover and paper) are fine, and the content is good as it has sufficient variety to keep children engaged, but I was disappointed to find that the entire journal is in a monotone blue ink. Some splashes of color would go a long way to get kids more involved, especially younger ones. Based on the above, I think it is best suitable for 7 - 11 year olds.
