-This thing is sturdy. My three year old (who destroys everything) got a hold of it and didn't break it. I was shocked.
-Easy to clean. Have you ever used one of the mesh feeders?? EW! Not only are they difficult to clean, they're just nasty. And gooey. And nasty. I forgot to clean the feeder right after my baby was using it today, I just found it while doing dinner dishes. So the fruit sat in there for a good 8 hours (don't judge). It came out so easy, one rinse and it looked as good as new.
-Kept the baby occupied for a straight hour. Can you put a price on that?
-Nothing yet. I'll keep you posted.
Now for the critical with this particular Food Feeder (the "large" size): I wish I'd known how small the "large" one was, and that the Food Feeder Plus, which is almost double the capacity, was available at first. Now, my baby was 11 months when I started using this product, so I'm sure that makes a difference, but I find what's called a "large" to be quite small. When I first ordered this version, I was so excited for it to come, but when the large size arrived, I was shocked at how small it was - it held maybe half of what the mesh-style feeder would hold. For my purpose of keeping a hungry baby busy safely eating healthy foods, the large just wasn't practical at the age of 10-12 months because I'd have to keep stopping what I was doing (eating my own meal, feeding my pre-schooler) to refill the thing, all the while hungry baby was screaming in my ear for more. I don't know what people put in the small size - maybe 1 blueberry?? I would highly recommend that an image of a baby holding the feeder be added to each size's product info, and that the company add an approximation of how many ounces of food will fit in each size, as that would help parents determine which size is right for their little ones.
Thankfully, when I went to return my second large (I purchased 2 at once), I discovered the FOOD FEEDER PLUS - a great improvement (I gave that a 5 star rating). I'm not sure if the PLUS holds as much as the mesh-style feeder, but it's close, and it holds a lot more than this large size.
One thing I love about both is that they have a cap - great for on-the-go because when baby's finished, I can just pop the cap on, put it in the diaper bag and clean it up when I get home. With certain foods that aren't super juicy it would probably also allow you to prepare it in advance and have it ready for mealtime.
An important note to former mesh-styler feeder parents: It may take baby a couple of tries to get used to this style of feeder. My little one didn't like it at first, even after I squeezed some of the food out for her (and she LOVES to eat), but we tried again. By the second or third try, she'd gotten the hang of it and now she loves it.
Other than the misleading reference to a "large" size, there's only 1 other change I would suggest... I wish it had a single handle to hold instead of the double handle. With the mesh-style feeder, which had just a single handle, I could use it with a Sippy Pal to prevent it from getting dropped on the floor. We have carpet and a dog, so no matter how much I vacuum, any damp item that falls on the floor is almost immediately covered with hard-to-remove dog hair. Thankfully, my little one loves this so much (and is now getting old enough to understand that dropping it on the floor means it will take longer for her to get more food) that she doesn't drop it on the floor as often and the silicone is easier to rinse quickly in the sink than the mesh feeders were. (NOTE: With the Food Feeder Plus, I figured out how to use it with a Sippy Pal by attaching a toy chain link to its handlek, but this mod won't work for the large size with the double handle). I know they sell a special chain and loop to go with it for that purpose, but that's another thing I have to buy and either buy 2 or 3 of, or remember to pack in the diaper bag or have the hubby pack in his diaper bag when he takes the baby out.
I do love that it comes in so many fashionable colors! All-in-all a fabulous product line that every mom with a new baby should have. This line of products may be my new go-to baby shower gifts.
well at first I thought I would pass on the food feeder entirely since my nephew only seemed to use his for about a month,... but then I was feeding my little one watermelon and it became stressful,... I was worried she would choke so I immediately searched and was torn between this and the munchkin mesh feeder,.. unsure which to order because reviews were great or bad about each,.. I decided to go with this one though since plastic seems more sanitary and I am glade I did! so easy to clean,.. so easy to fill,.. baby can handle holding on her own and I feel so much better and her transitioning to solids,... also it has a little "hole" for you to put it on a lease! awesome touch!
Our 7 month old just cut her first 2 teeth and had also recently started solid foods. Her short menu is Mom, bananas, and oatmeal. I had recently purchased one of the mesh style feeders to allow her to have one of her foods and the extra benefit of teething relief... But boy was it a chore to clean! Despite hand washing, scrubbing with a tooth brush, putting it in boiled water, and running it in the dishwasher, it still had grime/mold remaining after the 3rd use. Found this online and it's the perfect upgrade. Well worth the extra $.
She is 7th months old but an itty bitty thing. (5th percentile) I debated on getting the small or large. Went with LARGE and glad I did!
She gulped down 1/2 of a mini banana and the mess was minimal compared to the mesh style feeder. Looking forward to trying frozen bananas for extra teething relief and, eventually, other fruits and veggies.

You can take it with you on the walk- if your little one is like mine (not so happy to drink water) it will be helpful to pomp some liquid into their bodies.
He is now 8 months and still likes it on the go. Be mindful it will be messy.
One more thing- it absorbs colour from food.
So mine is a little bit orange from carrots.
Not eco friendly made from plastic.
