I read a lot of reviews before purchasing and checked out the paint on the eyes and noses before putting them to use. I was able to easily peel off the nose on each hedgehog, which I highly recommend doing before use. The eyes were a different story and I couldn't get any paint off at all, so I left it on em. It has been a month and the eyes are only a teensy bit rubbed away (I haven't seen any paint on our laundry) although there is indeed some blue on their spikes from our jeans. Don't let the black paint deter you! :)
So overall, these things are great! We don't use dryer sheets or fabric softener because of intense skin sensitivities, so it was easy to see the change in our clothes and especially our towels. They are significantly softer and very fluffed. I used them for our throw pillows as well and these cute little guys got all of the lumps out in just 10 minutes! They are better than other dryer balls I have used in the past.
However, I've been using the AsSeenOnTV brand dryer balls for a long time (Highly recommended!) and these are nowhere near as good. Within a couple of weeks' use, all the little nubs had broken off, and the pieces scattered throughout my laundry. No damage to the clothes, but the plastic these are made of is much more hard and brittle than the other brand, so it breaks. I've had the ASOTV ones for years and use them in almost every load... they are still going strong.
A+ for awesome style,
F for function.
They work really well in reducing dryer time, especially for towels. They make the dryer a little louder because they jump around so much, but if I close the door to the laundry room I barely notice.
When you first purchase any type of dryer ball or buddy you want to make sure that you don't put them in with delicate items or clothing that is incredibly thin, they can poke a hole in something like that. I use them for just about everything else, sheets, towels, jeans, thick t-shirts.
They do a descent job of lessening wrinkles. You will probably still have to iron a few things, but it should cut your ironing time down quite a bit.
They're very nice for more delicate things as well. Despite looking like they might be hard on some of the more fragile fabrics, they're actually quite nice. Not good for loose stitched stuff like lace though.
