Sure enough, the rubber seal secures perfectly on the backsplash of the bathroom sink, and the magnet that presses into the soap holds well. My spouse was skeptical about the whole idea, but there's no more yucky soap scum build-up, our soap lasts longer, our kid is encouraged to use the soap because the magnet is fun, and the chrome look blends in with the other accents in the bathroom.
It might not be for you, but I would suggest you give it a try!
On a funny note this is a great conversation piece and a brilliant way to detect who is nosing around in your bathroom! I have this in my shower/bath area & on two separate occasions I've had people come out & ask me where I got this & what a great idea or how amusing they found it. I found it amusing that they would out themselves as to being big snoops, as they would have to actively look in that area where they had no business! Calling out your friends is another whole big fun conversation!
However, the arm is only around 2 inches long so it can't keep the soap very far from the mirror. That defeats the purpose of keeping the counter top clean as the soap drips over the counter rather in the basin.
When I bought the first two they were less than 7 dollars but have been hovering around 8. I now see they dropped to a tad bit above 7 so I am buying two more for my garden tub, another for a guest bathroom. I will now have four. I love these! They are the best invention!
Added March 20th, 2013: I have noticed if you place the soap upside down on the part that holds onto the soap, it last a lot longer! If you put it at the top, regular way, since most soaps are contoured, it leaves a sliver and you are left with ends but no center. I have been placing the circle part in the middle still but upside down on the soap and it last longer that way.

Nice idea, but either it would fall off the wall, or the soap would fall of of it. Woke me up in the middle of the night on more than one occasion.Published 17 months ago by Nicholas Conrad
Worked for a day then it just fell off every time I tried putting it back on.Published 20 months ago by heinesite

Loved it so much I bought everyone in my family one. Keeps the soap from getting all drippy. Sticks to the shower stall no problem and doesn't fall off, which gives me a little... Read morePublished on February 18, 2014 by Josephine Dickhaus
As one reviewer stated worked better than they did in the "old days". Well mine didn't. The suction cup just isn't good enough, and I counted on it being better.Published on February 10, 2014 by Manitou
We used this holder on the mirror at first then moved it to the edge of the glass sink.
On glass it has never slipped or let go. Read more
I waited for this product to be put back in stock. The soap dish was worth the wait and works as advertised.Published on January 7, 2014 by John M
