You load the guy with tea by popping him open -- there are a couple metal tabs which hold two halves shut. This is a slightly fiddly process, and can lead to a few stray tea leaves on the counter. Also, when closed, some tea leaves can escape through the cracks in the side, so if you're a purist about not getting any leaves in the tea you drink (and/or you tend to drink very finely ground tea) that could be a problem.
Ok well that's what I posted when I first got it, but since then I found that things have changed.
It isn't floating for as long anymore, the air keeps getting out, probably because the tea leaves get stuck in the tiny seal cause of static. I also find that the water doesn't get through it enough. My tea's lacking flavour because it's not letting out enough. Also, a lot of pieces have started falling out now. Otherwise, everything else I mentioned before stays the same.
I'm just a little upset now that I got large particle loose tea that won't fit in this thing, this weekend out of town. So I knew i had to return it but i got back home and found out I missed the return deadline by 2 days. Darn it
He is the perfect size to hold a decent amount of tea and almost ensures a perfect cup when you feel him. The stainless steel is easy to clean and setting up/feeling the infuser takes about 15 seconds. The arms bend enough to allow him to fit almost any cup. The arms, however, are rigid and not flexible, so sometimes it is hard to get the infuser deep enough in the water to get it to saturate all of the tea leaves. If there is one thing I would suggest improving, it would be making the arms flexible and allowing a perfect fit to the cup. Also, some blinking lights would be cool (joking.... or am I?).
The Kikkerland Robot Tea Infuser does its job well and allows you to enjoy your favorite cup of tea.
BTW - I had the "HIC Brands that Cook Snap Mesh Tea Ball Infuser (China)" before, but I when I broke it, I thought it was poorly welded (weak). Yet, compared to this Kikkerland gadget, it's looking not so bad after all...!
Finally, adding insult to injury it appears Kikkerland has raised the price by almost 25% to $9. Don't pay it!!!
