Los Lobos is celebrating the 20th anniversary of their seminal album Kiko with the release of Kiko 20th Anniversary Edition on CD. The Kiko 20th Anniversary Edition is newly remastered, and features bonus material including demo versions of album tracks and live recordings, and new liner notes written by Los Angeles journalist and longtime friend of the band, Luis Torres.
Released in 1992, Kiko was embraced by fans and hailed by critics as the band s defining moment, the album that put Los Lobos back on the innovation track. Kiko was produced by Mitchell Froom, who received a Grammy nomination for Producer of the Year for his work on the album, and who had previously collaborated with the band on La Bamba. Dubbed one of the albums of the decade by The Wall Street Journal, "the album of the year" by the Los Angeles Times and the Chicago Tribune, and one of "The Essential Recordings of the '90s" by Rolling Stone, Los Lobos also took home an MTV Music Video Award for Breakthrough Video for "Kiko and the Lavender Moon" in 1993.

Really great guitar playing! The songs are diverse but unified. Focused and wide at the same time. Easy to get into but very rich music. The production really is special and dense with great effects perfectly married to the music bringing everything to a higher level. Just put it on a be immersed in a really cool record that grows with each listen. Los Lobos rock and this record does too.
This album may be something of an excursion from Los Lobos' expected sound, but those who know the band's music also know that almost any sound they decide to try will be melded into what they already posess. Los Lobos stand as giants above the others, mostly midgets, of American popular music.
already said, but here I sit doing it anyhow. This c.d. is great.
Layer upon layer of sound running through, over, and under each
other. It was my first encounter with this great band, and spured
me on to obtain all of thier work that was available. All very
good, most excellent. I'm amazed at how these guys keep evolving
their musical talents while continuing to stay at the top of
their game, experimenting with so many diverse styles. Always
fresh. Bottom line...This has become one of my all time favorite
c.d.s. I never go to bed without putting it on to fall asleep
Thanks, and may you be well.
