I would have given this at least 4-5 stars if it only contained the first 11 tracks, but they also included the original soundtrack as a bonus. Well played :)
I'm going to try and give a quick breakdown of what I think of the tracks here:
01. Touch Me and I'll Break Your Face - Great opening track for the game/tracks to follow. Very "pop" like upbeat track with better vocals than one might expect in a video game specific track. I like the insertion of samples from the original KI here and there. 4/5
02. The Instinct - Awesome re-imagining of the KI main theme. This track makes me nostalgia really hard...I had to hold back jumping for joy as it kicked in on playing the game the first time on the Xbox One. - 6/5 (that's not a typo)
03. Hinnamatoom - Another almost hauntingly good track. Love the flute in this. The way it ties to the character in the game is just right-on. A bit of native chanting/singing, flutes, and a driving rock like tune makes this another one of my favorites. - 5/5
04. Warlord - I like the lyrics and chanting leading into this track. While not my favorite of the bunch, the lyrics and unmistakable cackle of Spinal, is pretty cool. - 3/5
05. The Tiger Warrior - A neat track, that is hard for me to describe. The lyrics/chanting are absolutely great. I like the sound of this track across the board. Great mix of sound and beats. - 4/5
06. Type-03 - Alright, I admit...I'm a big Rock/Hard Rock/Metal Fan. This track is amazingly good. I'd have to say it's my favorite outside of The Instinct. It's definitely my favorite character track...although it does not belong to my favorite character (when playing)..ha. This song rips your heart out from the very beginning and pulverizes you till letting you slowly drop to the floor at the end. Love it! Another - 6/5
07. Shatterhail - I'm not a huge fan of this one. The beat does make sense in context of the character. Especially the almost hesitating like beats that sync with the hit/attack style of Glacius. There's a bit of a "sci-fi" sound to it too..which also matches up with the stage and character. 3/5
08. Ballet of Death - This one is just INSANE! Seriously, you start with the sound of scampering things and flies/bugs. Then suddenly you're hit with chilling screams, wails, and hard driving guitar like riffs. Creepy stuff really...and fits the character. Try this track out in the dark with headphones. I can't decide if I like it or hate it... I'll give it a 2/5 and 4/5. 2/5 on how often I'll listen, 4/5 on the insanely freaky scale and how well it matches the stage/character.
09. Lycanthropy - Sabrewulf is my all-time favorite character dating back to the original Arcade Release. While not my favorite track, this track does match the stage and theme of Sabrewulf. - 3/5
10. The End - A slowly building "Ending" track. It's not super epic, just fitting and end credit worthy. - 3/5
11. The Way U Move (SeamlessR Remix) - Awesome remix and a great track all around. A great meshing of new and old. I would have liked to see more tracks like this on the album! 4/5
Tracks 12-27 - The original Killer Cuts were always some of my favorite tracks from a Video Game Soundtrack. It's full of 90's sounding gaming music, but it's worth a play through for the nostalgia and memories. - 4/5
In the end, great job by Mick Gordon, Ali Edwards, and all those who contributed. Really enjoyed this fan service as a gamer :). I look forward to SEASON 2!!
OH, and Mick....I want a Metal album from you...
...seriously!
