Shoot ran away when he was fifteen escaping his abusive father and the town that never helped him. The only reason he's returning now is because his grandmother has asked him to make the funeral arrangements for the man he hated. Shoot plans to get in town, lay down some cash, make the necessary arrangements and then get out never looking back. What he didn't plan on was meeting his father's sexy neighbor and coming face to face with his Angel.
Amelia has a thick wall surrounding her which is protected by thorns. She learned early in life that people you love leave, so she's kept her distance from everyone making sure it never happens again. Shoot enters her life, knocking her off balance and blowing past her walls, which scares and confuses her. She knew his father, but she knew a different side to the man that Shoot hated. But something else that she knew was that Shoot is a killer and judging by the way he makes her heart beat, he's also a threat. However when Amelia finds herself in danger, Shoot is the only person she thinks of and she knows he'll be able to both help and keep her safe.
Shoot is a wonderful character. He's sexy as hell and is one of those big guys with a great personality who finds something to laugh about all the time. He doesn't hide his feelings and he makes it clear from the start he wants Amelia. But he's also patient and caring and never pushes her further than she's ready to go. Amelia was a little more stubborn, but she was also warm and kind and no matter how hard she fought those feelings she had for Shoot, he kept steadily pushing until they were breaking.
I loved seeing Breaker and Alex again and enjoyed meeting characters from some of the other books by this author. I have already added the Henchmen MC books to my list to read and have the next book in this series, Savior, sitting on my Kindle. I can't wait to see what's in store for the hot tattoo artist Paine.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will be reading more from this author.
Hmm...started out good, was excited for it after the first book in the series. I enjoyed the heroine being curvy and described as “Spanish” though I’m not sure if that was suppose to mean Latina or actually from Spain.
Though I enjoyed the heroine finding a place to call home and new friends I felt the author’s introduced way too many characters in this book that are from her other series is what seems like a backdoor pitch to get more readers to those series instead of letting this book/series stand on its own. Same issues but to a much larger extent in For A Good Time Call.
I liked this one but didn't love it. And I'm not sure what it is exactly that I'm feeling.
Sometimes it felt rushed and pushed.
But other than that it was pretty good and a nice read.
I just had other and higher expectations.
Still would recommend it, because you never know maybe this is your diamond!
