Being that I was interested in Psychology, I took a psych 100 class in college, and the first thing that didn't sit well with me was that they were teaching students that EST was an effective form of treatment for many psychological issues.
And another issue that arose, that I had tested, was the manner in which Therapist handle vague inferences. During a meeting with my therapist, prior to college, I was having some dark thoughts, and being unable to speak directly about them, since any mention that I was having thoughts of hurting other would have resulted in legal issues, I was being vague about my intentions... My vague intention, that I felt I was being more than obvious about, was not met with abstinence, as one would hope or assume. I was told I should act on my impulses, and that "sometimes we have to figure out the hard way why we don't act out."
And at that moment I was reminded of Eric Harris telling me he thought his Therapist was telling him to kill people, because my Therapist had just told me to kill people... Modern Psychology is ineffective at best, and I would suggest that more often than not, when psychological help is truly what is needed, the results of a Therapist's intervention wind up pulling the trigger on an already volatile situation, and do not diffuse it... In every single case where there has been a mass shooting, the shooter had met with a therapists just days prior to "acting out." And given that most Therapists are just following a script, given to them by the psychology department at a community college, I feel we need to stop blaming the shooters, and start looking at the catalyst.
People don't go to Therapist if they aren't having psychological issues, and if those people are already having thoughts of hurting people, like in my case and Eric Harris's case, all the Therapist is going to do is pull the trigger an event that the person getting help was trying to avoid. While I had the mind to walk away after my Therapist had suggested I kill someone, obviously some take it to heart.
I feel modern psychology needs to be abolished as a social science... And for the record I am not a Scientologist, but I forced to agree with their views based on my own research, as well as personal experience.
I'm not really into blood and guts movies so I can't tell if you'll like it or not. Predictable.
