About the Author

David Tully used to teach at New York University, where he got his PhD in Literature (so that’s “Doctor Tully,” if you please), then lived in Los Angeles for several years, where he worked as Head of Development for Oscar-winner Volker Engel at Unchartered Territory, before he moved to Munich, where he worked as a scriptwriter for TV and features, and headwriter for series. He then moved to the United Arab Emirates, where the script for his supernatural thriller DJINN attracted horror legend Tobe Hooper to come to Dubai and direct this first international Arab horror movie. David's critical biography TERRY SOUTHERN AND THE AMERICAN GROTESQUE was published in 2010, and aside from being a script writer (whose projects include the upcoming CASTING THE RUNES, starring Simon Pegg and directed by Joe Dante) and the creative mastermind at Shivertown Road Films, he also now works as a novelist.

Lee Goldberg is a two-time Edgar and Shamus Award finalist who has written and produced scores of highly successful network television series, including Diagnosis Murder, SeaQuest, Hunter, Martial Law, Monk, and The Glades. He's also the author of over thirty novels and non-fiction books, including The Walk, Successful Television Writing, Watch Me Die, King City and fifteen Monk mystery novels. He's currently writing four books with bestselling author Janet Evanovich. As an international television consultant, he has advised networks and studios in Canada, France, Germany, Spain, China, Sweden, and the Netherlands on the creation, writing, and production of episodic television series.

William Rabkin is a two-time Edgar Award nominee who writes the Psych series of novels and is the author of Writing the Pilot. He has consulted for studios in Canada, Germany, and Spain on television series production and teaches screenwriting at UCLA Extension and as an adjunct professor in UC Riverside’s low-residency masters program.

From the opening sentence, "On the morning of the day that Matt Cahill decided to murder an entire town, he was feeling kind of blue." to the exciting end - The Dead Man #15: The Killing Floor by David Tully delivers the goods! The town being Sundown in the Adirondack Mountains.
There's a lot going on in this book, from environmental protesting about hydro-fracking back to the mystery surrounding the first American Settlement, Roanoke...And the 1st European born on American soil...
There's history and so much more going on here, woven seamlessly throughout! (Hard to believe this is Mr. Tully's 1st Novel!)
And as Lee Goldberg said himself on my last review: Going Black To Indiana... The Black Death (Dead Man #14) - " If you're a Mr. Dark fan, you're going to LOVE the next one, The Killing Floor (Dead Man #15). Mr. Dark plays a very big role in that one."
And he's true to his word - Mr. Dark is all over this one and we learn quite a bit more about what he is and his agenda!
Excellent Addition to a Fine Series!

I have read every dead man book twice and each one is a different thrill ride you do not expect. These books drive me crazy because there short. Leaving me screaming for more of Matt Cahill and his trusted axe!
This book once again does not disappoint and takes you further into the madness Matt has found himself in. I know one day the stories will have to end but hope it's not for a long long time. Keep pumping out these wonderful books. ill keep my fingers crossed this becomes a series but only on a station like hbo!

Another fun, fast and frightening Dead Man. A small towns struggle pitted between good and evil with a underlying plot of what humans are doing to our own planet, for survival or greed . Let the ax fly!

Read this book in one afternoon and was totally rapt. I love the link between current fears re: the environment and ancient evils. The pacing, imagery, and dialogue are impeccable. In addition to reading Colson Whitehead's Zone One recently, I've been getting caught up on the Walking Dead. So needless to say, I've been thinking a lot about zombies lately and how the genre is expressing all sorts of contemporary anxieties about building or maintaining civilizations in the face of overwhelming threat or "terror," but this book brings up a slew of other cool connections that I hadn't even considered. I particularly like how the violence of the environment mirrors and stokes the violence of the townspeople and the anti-fracking contingent, but the underlying evil/zombificataion nullifies those differences. Plus, it is just a total page turner and pleasure to read.

David Tully joins the ranks or Dead Man series writers with The Killing Floor. Tully has a PhD in literature and has worked in the television and movie industry. Which makes for an episode long on visuals.

At least the author understands the importance of a good opening line:

"On the morning of the day that Matt Cahill decided to murder an entire town, he was feeling kind of blue."

Matt Cahill and his ax of justice end up in an upstate New York town where the locals and activists are divided over fracking. The locals look on it as a source of jobs and income, the activists a plague on nature. But when Matt rolls into town with a hippie chick (on the side of the activists), he notices one thing: everybody in the town resembles a decaying corpse. And, as usual he;s the only one who can see this. Matt's nemesis, Mr. Dark, has been calling with plans for the town.

I have to give the author credit. No way could I have created a book which combined eco-activists, angry townsfolk, the lost Roanoke colony, and a conclusion designed by Industrial Light and Magic.Oh, yes: there's a wise Indian shaman too. And zombies. Did I leave something out?

The producers of the Dead Man series are doing a good job finding new talent it. I've noted a lot of television writers in the series. But that doesn't surprise me given their close proximity to Hollywood.
