This whole series is both a bit leaden and also very interesting. Beginning in England during the Cromwell rebellion and ending in W.Va. in 20th century. Fascinating trail of a few families and their overlaps. It was very much worth reading, but if you're looking for a plot driven quick read, this isn't it. I very much enjoyed the historically accurate rendering of life at the time. The main problem I had with the series is that everyone has similar names. When I went back and made a list, it helped. I would recommend the series if you're interested in the transition from England to the US and especially if you're from coal country.
