Just a fun, silly movie in the vein of What We Do In The Shadows. Arnie's role is small, the effects are so-so and the acting is goofy but I can't hate on it at all compared to most of the garbage being produced. It's simple and focused and they even tried to keep the whole cameraman thing alive the entire movie which is above most mockumentaries.

The trailer for this movie made it look interesting, but I admittedly forgot about it until I saw it for free on Prime. Since I had made no financial commitment to the film other than my Prime membership, I was able to go into it with an open mind. I also like some of the other cast members, like Bobby Moynihan and Hannah Simone.

It's basically a mockumentary about a bunch of assassins who work very poorly together to try to kill this guy Gunther, who we don't really meet until the very end right around where the story climaxes (truth be told, one unique part of this movie is it kind of has two climaxes, but that's all I can say without spoiling anything).

Anyway, if you're a Prime member, check this movie out. It's got a unique sort of sarcastic humor, and the cast is great.

I'm writing this review mostly because it seems necessary to respond to the 1-star reviews. Clearly, a lot of people hated this movie, but it's not an inherently bad film. So people expected more Arnold; fair enough, but his short time in the film is some of the best comedy of the movie.

I saw some reviews before I watched and expected much worse. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised because there were genuinely funny parts even if there were some stretches with few laughs. It isn't for everyone, but that's true of every movie. If you don't like mockumentaries, you'll hate it. If you want to see Arnold Schwarzenegger put a corpse's hand down the pants of another corpse, you might like this movie.

Mockumentary about a contract killer who wants to kill another assassin for personal reasons. I can see how this concept was probably really funny to a bunch of guys in a room. It probably would have been hilarious as scene at an improv club. But, in this case, it didn't translate to the screen. I can't tell you why this wasn't as successful as some of Christopher Guest's movies, but maybe it's because we have had experience with people like the ones in Guest's films (so we can relate) and the only contact most of us have had with contract killers is in movies. I didn't personally connect with any character in this film and it never made me laugh. By the time Schwarzenegger shows up on screen there's not much he can do to salvage it.

I feel like Arnold in "Kindergarden Cop" , after watching this towards all these other people who watched this and gave negative reviews: "What is WRONG with you?!!!" lol

I am totally shocked --- what about this movie irked so many viewers? Was it the Documentary style? Did that Narrative format bother people or something?

It was great. A goofy collection of Hitmen all come together to try and kill the Master -- the Bruce Lee / Michael Jordan / All Time Greatest hitman who is a complete Legend. None of this motley, silly collection of Hitmen know what he looks like or where he is, so they all set out to make him come to them and try and get him.

Obviously, hilarity ensues and towards the end the tables turn and we meet Gunther (Schwarzenegger -- having so much fun) and they finally battle.

Even on IMDB people are crazy, what did people not like? I thought it was funny, the actors were all awesome and the ending was perfect.

This is a COMEDY, and shot in the documentary style similar to a Christopher Guest movie like "Best In Show" or "Spinal Tap" . I loved this film, and I'm utterly shocked and confused why others didn't enjoy it. So I personally recommend you watch it, and enjoy a great 1 1/2 hour comedy :) .

The bashings are a bit predictable.
1. This is a mockumentary. Emphasis on mock.
2. Even more so, a mockumentary about hitmen. We're pretty far afield here.
3. Quality arnie time is the last 20-30 minutes. Wait for his single in the credits. "Earthquake Love" Delightfully horrible.
4. Does a perfectly respectable job of blowing the panache off of all the 007, MissionImpossible, Jason B, etc movies.

Yes this is basically a very low budget (looking) version of Expendables in mockumentary form.

To be fair, I waited for it to be free with Prime.... So for $0 it was an acceptable distraction for 90 minutes. It's fine. It's amusing. Watch the trailer - it's better than the trailer by 20-30%.

i watched this on a 4k firestik w/ prime while buzzed on sparkling wine AND IT WAS AWESOME FOR ALL THE DARK HUMOR REASONS DARK COMEDIES MAKE US LAUGH. I also re-watched this sober and it sucked.

To enjoy this movie, you need to be either drunk or high on whatever recreational chemical gives you the giggles BECAUSE IT REALLY IS HILARIOUS FOR COUNTLESS GROANER DARK HUMOR REASONS.

If you watch this sober, you will be annoyed by idiot characters doing idiot things and will only be mildly happy when they die. If you watch this on gigglechems you will be massively rewarded with tons of dark humor that will keep going throughout the entire movie.

The premise is absolutely ridiculous and once you getover that fact and assume it could be real and that only the idiots filmed would actually choose lives like they have portrayed in the movie it's an awesome bumbling hitman on hitman documentary-drama that was written in the style WWE-quality soap opera writers. My only complaint is there wasn't any quality nudity in this movie when the persian/iranian babe really should have gratuitously shown us here bodacious tatas in the many opportunities this movie gave her but denied us of. I gave it 5-stars because this movie made me laugh, cringe, cry, feel empathy, fear & hate and really did entertain me.

Ah, cet Arnold, il est sans doute le premier yakayo de notre enfance à toujours savoir rigoler de son l’image ou que l’on pourrait penser de lui-même et ce film s’inscrit dans ce type de parodie ou il ne tient pas le rôle principal, mais laisse place, cette fois, à Taran Killam acteur principal mais aussi réalisateur, et qui, pour ça première réalisation ne s’en tire pas trop mal, car le film a pour concept et à défaut d’une grande originalité, de nous permettre de suivre ; à travers une sorte de caméraman amateur, une équipe de tueurs tous plus déjantés les uns que les autres, et c’est là justement ou le film atteint rapidement ses limites car au-delà d’une caractérisation d'une bonne partie des assassins pour le moins sommaire; cela se rajoute à son concept de mise en scène à base de caméra tremblotante et d’un manque de cadrage correct ou de zoom intempestif et sans doute voulu par ces créateurs mais contribuant involontairement à rester à l’écart de cette histoire et montrant clairement les limites de ce type de procédé, c’est d’autant plus dommage car il y avait matière à faire un super film, enfin, s'il y avait eu un véritable metteur en scène derrière ce projet.
Cela reste tout de même plaisant sur certains passages car l’attrait principal reste ce groupe de tueurs interprétré par plusieurs membres anciens ou actuels du Saturday Night Live à commencer par son réalisateur mais aussi son complice Bobby Moynihan.
Un film qui au final me laisse un gout d’inachevé, et qui aurait sans doute pu être meilleur mais vos néanmoins le coup d’œil pour qui est, comme moi, encore fan du chêne autrichien et surtout des performances d’acteurs du SNL.

Eigentlich hätte ich dem Film am liebsten 5 Sterne gegeben. Ich fand die Idee eigtl. sehr unterhaltsam. Das Marketing verspricht aber mal wieder viel zu viel, insbesondere von Schwarzenegger. Insbesondere der Trailer … zeigt einem eigtl. schon den ganzen Film … 😊, aber in Ordnung, das ist leider relativ häufig so.

Dabei finde ich es eigtl. ganz gut, dass man Arni anfangs nicht sieht … denn es weiß eben Keiner wer Gunther ist. Dass dann aber Schwarzenegger überall riesig beworben wird … ist eben zu viel des Guten. Ich denke es wäre vielleicht sogar besser gewesen ihn nur als „Gast“ aufzuführen, dann wären die letzten 20 Minuten noch besser gewesen (Denn es ist auch definitiv mehr als nur ein Cameo Auftritt).

So wird er als Hauptprotagonist dargestellt und man wartet den ganzen Film über, dass er auftaucht. Selbst als er das erste Mal zu sehen ist … ist es nicht Arnold 😊 (ich sage nur „spul nochmal zurück“).
Die Bluray an sich ist auch sehr mau ausgefallen. Es gibt keinen Bonus, nur ein paar Trailer. Deutsche und englische Tonspur sind vorhanden, seltsamerweise aber nur deutsche Untertitel.
Ich schaue mir die Filme ganz gerne im O-Ton und ab und an mit englischen Untertiteln dazu an. Hilft beim „verstehen“ ganz gut 😊

Die Sprüche sind eher flach und der Klamauk steht im Vordergrund. Wieso man auch derart schlechtes CGI einsetzen musste, verstehe ich nicht (CGI Schlange). Hier wäre wohl eine Gummi Schlange besser gewesen. Da ich das aber wusste, dass es eben KEIN ARNI Film ist … war ich persönlich nicht enttäuscht. Ich denke für 9,99 kann man den auch mal mitnehmen.

Die „5 Sterne; Arnis bester Film“- Bewertungen sind aber wohl auch eher als Scherz / Fake gedacht, man hat das Gefühl, Diejenigen haben den Film nicht gesehen 😉.

This movie is sort of a documentary style action/comedy. Different, yet pretty funny at times. I liked it, even though Arnold does not appear in it until about the 1hr and 8 minute mark. The basic story line is about a group of young and undisciplined assassins that seek to kill Gunther the most infamous hit man of all time, but Gunther knows this and is always one step ahead of them. Lots of funny action. Being an avid Arnold fan I just had to get it, and I'm glad I did. With Arnold Schwarzenegger of course, and Taran Killam and Cobie Smulders. (2017, English language, with English and Spanish subtitles).

Was war denn das bitte :-( Selbst die goldene Himbeere wäre noch zuviel für "Killing Gunther". Hat Schwarzenegger sowas überhaupt nötig, nur als "Clickbait" ein paar Minuten im Film herhalten zu müssen. Der Trailer ist jedenfalls Clickbaite pur und man erhofft sich, eine versteckte Perle zu finden. Am Ende bekommt man jedoch Dogshit :-( Finger weg von diesem Müll.
