In this incisive, personal account, Brock disarms the major tentacles of the Republican Leviathan: the Koch Brothers, the Clinton haters, and the Fox Noise Machine. With the acumen of a seasoned political player, Brock takes readers inside his Democratic war rooms and their 24/7 battles with right-wing forces for control of the story lines and messages that will decide the 2016 election. And he chronicles his own evolution from lead Clinton attack-dog to one of Hillary Clinton's fiercest defenders as he knocks down the conservative case against her.
Finally, Killing the Messenger provides the no holds barred playbook for what the new right-wing conspirators will do in this election cycle to tear apart the electorate-and what good, engaged, and informed citizens can do to stop them.

Review
"KILLING THE MESSENGER exposes the art of scandal-mongering by one of the guys who invented it. It's a must read for the chin scratchers of the Washington Beltway and grassroots activists alike. If you want to know the Republican playbook for smearing Democrats by making stuff up, read this and then use it as a guide on how to fight back."―James Carville
"In this remarkable book, David Brock shows how a determined group of progressives can fight back against a right-wing effort to discredit progressive politics and destroy Hillary Clinton. Drawing on knowledge only a former right-wing insider could have, Brock exposes the right's relentless politics of personal destruction, and even (gasp!) defends Hillary Clinton. KILLING THE MESSENGER will empower you to take back our politics and make it something more decent and noble."―Paul Begala, Democratic strategist and former counselor to President Bill Clinton
"Brock...was there from the beginning and is intimately familiar with the mind-set and tactics of the right....He really hasn't missed a moment."―New York Times Book Review
"Lucid, persuasive, and passionate where it needs to be."―President Bill Clinton

As a former Republican myself, (I woke up about 25 years ago), I am appalled at the machinations that the party goes through to prevent people from voting and lying about the facts, simply to win elections, knowing that their policies do not have the support of the American people.
Thank you Mr. Brock for your book.
...and I admit, I have not read the whole book, or even much of the book.
I wish I could tell you to just "look inside" -- but oddly enough, when you do, what you see is NOT this book.
I hope, if you are concerned about this election, you will buy a Kindle copy (as Kindle readers are available practically every platform (and if it, too, isn't the right book, Amazon should give you your money back)
Here's a bit from the Introduction, since the "look inside" does not seem to be working...
"So I spent two years research and writing, retracing every step of Hillary Clinton's life, doing more than a hundred interviews and going back twenty years collecting virtually every piece of paper than had her name on it.
"Contrary to what my patrons expected, I found no silver bullet that would stop the Clintons. What I did find was a woman with a steadfast commitment to public service, a clear political vision, and a deep well of personal integrity. I couldn't write the book conservatives wnated, not without betraying the facts as I saw them -- and betraying myself in the process."
Now, no question, Brock's record is tainted, having created tremendous smoke screens around the Clintons, Anita Hill and more...
But this has at least as much cred as at least 90% of the hysterical right-wing nonsense going around.
I cannot underscore the importance of this book at this present time. But this is the guy behind the ill-gotten and subsequently discounted Troopergate, the guy who wrote a hit piece on Anita HIll, and managed to discount Hill's testimony, and get Clarence Thomas on the Supreme Court (something he now regrets).
In this book, he describes how conservative interests conspired to discredit Hillary and tarnish her record. The first four chapters explain to us the vast conservative-industrial complex. We learn of many of the organizations involved – think tanks, advocacy groups, SuperPACs, foundations, grassroots groups and others. It is interesting how the stories get started and work their way to the mainstream media via a process described as “communication stream of conspiracy commerce.”
By chapter five we start learning about the key person of this book – Hillary. Many right-wing pundits claim Hillary didn’t really do anything while Secretary of State. This is debunked by providing a detailed bulleted list of many of her major accomplishments. Most people aren’t aware of what she did during her four years as Secretary. As Brock sums up, “The image of Hillary jetting around the world for photo ops – the accusation that she was nothing more than a frequent flyer diplomat – never rang true, and it fell apart entirely in the face of the actual record of accomplishment we detailed.”
Of course, then there’s Benghazi. Who hasn’t heard about that ad nauseam? Brock clearly shows that after 10 congressional hearings, 50 senior-level staff briefings, 14 public hearings, multiple independent reviews, dozens of interviews, countless “accidental disclosures,” thousands of man-hours, and, get this, millions of tax payer dollars nothing untoward had been forthcoming. Now, in 2015, the latest select committee is shown to be a partisan witch hunt in disguise.
Going on, an entire chapter is devoted to the Clinton Foundation. Much partisan effort was put into demonstrating that Hillary was somehow granting favors to various large donors by virtue of her position as Secretary of State. The author shows us some of the good things the Clinton Foundation has done, such as lowering the cost of malaria drugs by 80 to 90 percent in nine countries. But this didn’t stop her critics from using this as a propaganda tool to destroy her. It is interesting how the author ferrets out the New York Times involvement in some of this. He notes “when they [conservative politicos] want to package something as real news, leak it to the press, and get it into the bloodstream of mainstream conversation to mislead the public at large, they turn not to Fox but to the New York Times.” We are introduced to some of the key people at the Times that were involved. It is quite interesting.
He continues to discuss the on-going assault on Hillary by next discussing what he calls the Romney-ization of Hillary. We learn about her financial struggles after the Clintons left the White House and how they recouped their legal losses – debts tagged as high as $10.6 million at one point. Then there were the large speaking fees, and the comparisons of her to Elizabeth Warren. The idea is to paint Hillary as an elite out of touch with the needs of the middle classes and us ordinary folk. Is she? Brock informs us of the truth.
He concludes with an account of all the entities attacking Hillary, and, on the other hand, those organizations that are working in Hillary’s defense, such as Correct the Record, American Bridge, American Independent Institute, and others. If you want to get a handle on all the forces operating both for and against Hillary, this is the book to read.
