From the Inside Flap
Forward by Kurt Vonnegut; from beyond the grave I was recently approached by this writer through mediated channels asking if I would consider giving the opening remarks to his book. Since I'm here in the netherworld and not currently involved in any projects at this time, and having passed many years ago, I was more than willing to clear up any possible confusion as to the characters in this book. Kilgore Trout is a creation from the gray matter of my mind. Or was he? In this state of being, who is to say? Am I any more or less real than Kilgore Trout? For I no longer exist in a three dimensional plain, at least I sense nobody. So, does Kilgore Trout exist in the same third dimension, or only between the pages of my published novels. Kilgore Trout would have a hay day with this thought. He wrote over two hundred science fiction novels, many are still available in paperback at your neighborhood porn shops. Say, did you ever stop to think I could be a figment of his imagination, and our world's reality is tucked away into a file cabinet at days end, or are bytes of information on a computer chip. We might come into existence by a click of a mouse. The fate of humanity could end if his computer crashed. That being said, it is possible that Kilgore Trout could yet play a role in this novel. It only takes the striking of the keys. The question is from whom. Is Kilgore Trout in control, am I, or could it be the writer of this novel? If I happen to run into Albert Einstein, I will ask his perspective, knowing full well when he gets a hold of this concept, I might find a good portion of my eternity could be spent trying to follow his thoughts on this subject matter.
